In the pouring rain and high winds earlier today, two Saab convertibles; a 900 turbo (white, of course!) and a black 9-3. Both looked in pretty decent nick too.

Heading home last night I overtook a bright yellow Ford Ka Mk 3 and as I passed I thought it sounded like a bag of spanners being shaken vigorously. Checked the rear view mirror to see a huge cloud of blue smoke appear and the Ka heading onto a slip road. Glad I was clearly past just before bits of metal escaped from the engine!

Saw a Ferrari 355 the other day, was more surprised to see it where I did until I remembered there’s a guy living in the area who owned one of the few Ferraris in Ireland in the late 80’s/ early 90’s and it was probably his or someone in his family. Apparently he had to call an insurance company in the UK to insure it every time he drove it as the companies in Ireland wouldn’t cover him back then!

I8 on my commute today. Not a popular car but I’ve seen more of them in Ireland than California.

I8 on my commute today. Not a popular car but I’ve seen more of them in Ireland than California. I still love the look of the i8. I tried one before I got the M5 but the main issue was getting out - the sill is about a foot wide and the seat isn't much higher than the sill. As a consequence, when you get out the back of your leg slides down the outside of the sill. That is fine in the Californian sunshine but in the depth of a British winter, trousers would be filthy every time you got out. I tried several different extraction methods but they all ended up with the same issue.

Last night I came up behind a Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo of some sort at the lights. It looks very imposing and is really wide and low. It is also seriously quick. I was going to wait until we left the 30mph limit to see if he floored it but he was away, flat out, with about 300yds of 30mph limit left. Hitting 100mph+ before the end of a 30mph limit (even when it is out in to the country with no side roads) is just not what I do, so needless to say he was long gone very, very quickly.
I was sure the Reg was F4 CES, spaced to read as one word but looking that up suggests not!
I do like the look of them though.

Went to the gym yesterday evening and about 3 miles from home spotted a Chrysler Crossfire convertible. Then 1 minute later sitting at roadworks another one - different colour - drove past! The first one was so memorable, and ugly, I pointed it out to Mrs Tim Went out at lunchtime to get the car washed and as I was waiting for them to finish it what should drive past but another Crossfire. A coupe this time and wrapped in a bright metallic green. There must be some real saddos round here

Pug 306 cabrio in the really bright yellow they did. Not dissimilar in hue to the Merc A200 next to me on the way back!

Waiting to join the M3 this morning and in the next lane to me, an Audi pulled up... A1 Contrast Line + TFSI 5-door, red with silver roof. Not seen one in that colour combination before (and it's one of only 115 of any colour combination on the UK roads). X666 git plate and I don't remember the last 3 letters so cannot look up to see mileage and exact date of registration :-(

Arrived in the Bay Area on Saturday and ended up being stopped behind a Mercedes that’s all American. Welcome back Rodge…

Looks like a standard G on a wider track mod. Stability? Tuned to the eyeballs?

Is that a Mercedes body on something else? It’s a raised/lifted G Wagon on a wide track wheel base. Never saw anything like it when I lived here.

A bmw z8 this morning, another one of those cars that I file under 'I thought they were cheap at the time but didn't risk it,and they went on to become worth a small fortune (Mercedes AMG SLS falls into this category as well). '

Got back to my hotel this evening and there was a Lucid parked outside. Very nice looking inside, although I didn’t take a picture of that when I walked past.

A very clean and well preserved R Reg Volvo T5-R Estate in front of me this morning, making me the second loudest car on the road. A 5 cylinder just sounds magnificent when it's given a few revs.
