A stat in Autocar a few weeks ago said that 80% of private new cars are renters, not buyers. I guess this explains it (in part).

I'd argue with that stat unless they are suggesting PCP is a rental agreement.

I presume it does include PCPs.

Just shows how little the press know (or how much they want to twist the facts). PCP - the clue's in the name: Personal Contract Purchase

I’ve had 2 x PCPs, 50% success in the last P!

As you don't own the car at the end, it's my choice to use the word 'rent' (not Autocar's). No disrespect intended to those who've used them, but it's not the same as buying outright.

I'm assuming it's the same 1.3 litre petrol engine and auto gearbox as in the Qashqai.

Talking of the A Class, I went into the local dealer (about 30 miles away!) to have a look at one and to see if they knew anything about the A35. Short answer is that I knew more about it than they did.
The skinny tablet dashboard was interesting but only in the Premium style, as it was more seamless and touchy feely unlike the cheaper version. With the lower end one it was obviously two separate and pretty small screens but the more expensive one did look much more... Premium. Depending on spec and prices, I may be interested. Has a slightly bigger boot than the A3, too, which the pooch will probably appreciate. The Premium package also added quite a bit of chrome (door handles etc), which I wasn't overly keen on but hopefully that won't be the case on the AMG versions.

I know it's semantics, which I guess reflect my own preferences.

No idea. I didn't know Merc had some sort of tie up with Nissan.

Cheers Bob.
Make ssense if I thought about it since the Merc pickup thing is just a rebadged Navara with a slightly better interior (allegedly, haven't been in one to see).
