I tend to sit in the study at home, with glass-fronted bookcases behind me. Eagle-eyed background spotters will see lots of maps and books on travel, various biographies and a range of books on ruminant nutrition. Most of the car books will be out of shot.

The window in my office is over my right shoulder, so if I use the Mac rather than my work laptop (which I prefer to do), I'm very hazy. Fine with me, as I don't need to shave every day. I don't bother with backgrounds, just keep the office tidy
I wear my work polo shirts every day, as I would normally. I've got a 5 year strategy presentation to the owners this afternoon, so I might put a shirt on and sort the lighting out so it doesn't look like I'm lurking in the shadows.

I just took part in a recorded discussion on Zoom to be distributed internally to colleagues as part of a business development push. We were six and it was interesting that although there had been absolutely no advance discussion of dress-code and it was entirely being recorded for internal distribution within the firm, all four men had gone for a light blue dress shirt without tie or jacket, and the two women had gone for similar smart dark tops.

I moved my Video Conference screen to the kitchen early on in the lockdown as I much prefer sitting in natural light. It means my background is largely trees and sky - it makes my face slightly harder to see due to the contrast but I can adjust that and the reflections in the screen I look at aren't an issue for me.
I'm very used to business over video though as I've been doing it for a decade or more and the company I work for (Cisco) is a major player in the market (I urge folk to try Webex rather than Zoom in a business environment - though totally understand the simple appeal of Zoom). Actually, the organisation in IT I work within 'owns'global video collaboration, computer asset mgmt, internal social collaboration content, email & calendaring and end computer security so the past few weeks as we immediately transitioned 100,000 people to work from home has been fairly busy!
On the clothes front its been shorts and a polo/t-shirt for me pretty much since day one but I would put on a shirt for e.g. a customer call. My usual office attire would be jeans and a polo top (unless meeting a customer/exec) anyway so not really much change.

Interesting turn(s) this thread has takenn... Twelfth - yes, seen the new LIV Rebal AR and like the Gulf version. But won't be buying. My 'watch journey' has taught me that things like the LIV are too big and chunky for my slender wrists. I will be selling my Rebel DDC Chrono - Andy C will have first refusal! Regarding dressing for work and MS Teams - I've been working from home since 23 March and I can honestly say that I have dressed for work 'as normal' every day, ironing a shirt and wearing proper trousers etc. Occasionally I use one of the Teams backgrounds but mostly I'm just in my study. And regarding tits - let them flap about in the breeze as often as possible

I've used Webex, Zoom, MS Teams and GoToMeeting in my professional life over the last few years. I did like Webex. My current organisation has rolled out MS Teams during lockdown and mandated its use both for internal and external meetings. I had been dealing with a third party consultancy on Zoom for about a year prior to the lockdown, but I have had to ask them to move to Teams and I've also had to uninstall Zoom. Hey ho.

I got a bonus in April, and due to a lot of staff being off with Corona related reasons, I've worked my ass off and smashed the overtime, so I am so tempted to treat myself. Watchfinder have agreed to do this for £3k. So I'm just deciding what to do. Doesn't help the fridge packed up a month or so back, and now the dishwasher this month. www.watchfinder.co.uk/Tag%20Heuer/Monaco/CAW2114.FT6021/15237/item/137964?searchId=e36c303e-fdab-49bd-bb0c-b501ecfaab9c&rank=35

Also if you don't do these things when you get the chance, the chance may not re-arise. I bought my Rolex in 2009 with part of the proceeds of my time in Moscow, and it cost me £3,900 after several deep breaths and some epic man-maths. Today, the same watch retails for £6,650 and Watchfinder wants a similar amount for a second-hand one of similar vintage to mine, so I expect that if I sold it, it would owe me nothing, even accounting for servicing. There's no way today that I could justify spending such a sum on a watch. www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/Milgauss/116400%20GV/8177/item/159092?searchId=291d1646-a57f-40fa-ab3b-cf6adc002106&rank=3

Watchfinder also decent in my experience. My wife has an attractive steel & yellow gold Rolex Datejust Lady with a dark blue dial, which I bought from their Royal Exchange store in 2013, and we received good service. Not long after we got it, it became apparent that it was losing time quite fast, so we took it back where we got profuse apologies, it was sent off for thorough inspection and servicing, and came back with a free watch winder as an apology.

Is it? If I spent thousands on a bloody watch I'd expect it to tell the time properly which, let's face it, is its only reason for existing!

They took it back immediately with profuse apologies, had it fully serviced and fixed, and made a goodwill gesture to the tune of a watch-winder that retails for several hundred quid. What more do you expect? Obviously, you'd hope the watch didn't need attention in the first place, but the important thing with mistakes in my view is (a) to recognise that they can happen and (b) that you get appropriately swift and contrite customer service when they do.

I think it’s probably just a case of getting used to the square profile/shape after being used to seeing round stuff on there. this my current collection plus an old G-Shock that I wear out on the bike.

Very nice Andy! (But it would look better without the tag on) Ha! It’s only still on because if you take it off you can’t send it back. Not that I want to , but wanted to make sure everything works ok and that it Was definitely the right choice . It was I love it and a nice 30th birthday present (albeit a bit late due to a wedding) Got it for £2900 in the end. It’s a 2011 model and was serviced a few years ago .ive just spent the last 5 or so minutes just watching the cogs do their thing .the movement is fascinating to someone who’s never owned an automatic watch before I might watch Le Mans tonight after she’s finished watching Corrie
