It's our first alone as in just the three of us, me the Mrs and my mam, the rest of the family having blown up and disappeared over the care issue. So it'll be a big change not to be going round to see everyone and playing with the kids and it just wont be the same but such is life. It's been a massive year for me and there have been bumps in the road for Mrs WW and my mam so I'm hoping for a better 2023 and one thing which will help is the disappearance of any lingering doubt about financial security. Any "thing" we want we can have and the first of that has been massive Xmas spending by me on them but I did buy the Evoque for myself and Mrs WW if she wants to drive it. Despite any splurging local charities will likely get a bump when the day comes though. So that's me, waving goodbye to a difficult year and looking forward to less drama and upset and hopefully some happiness in the mix for us all. Here's hoping you lot and your lot can enjoy more health and happiness in the coming year I always play this on Xmas morning and I'll be playing it on Sunday. I have it on LP Sincerely meant... Best Wishes

Merry Christmas WW and to all the rest of you. It has been a difficult year in many ways and I can see next year being a bit harder still from a cost of living point of view. But no point worrying about that now best to just enjoy time with family, eat way too many roast spuds and spend the afternoon slowly stewing in alcohol. Cheers! 🎄 🎅 🍻

Indeed - Merry Christmas everyone, we're aiming at a bigger family celebration that usual this year, possibly the biggest since my dad passed away just a few weeks before Christmas in 2016. Stay safe everyone

Got the turkey decorating in the bath and the carrot crush ready to go, with a knob of stork on it.
Merry Christmas and happy new year all!

Merry Christmas to you all. Wishing you and yours much happiness (and peace when you need it) over the festive period.
Feeling distended after too much goose and Christmas pudding, but it was all rather marvellous.
Off to my brother's tomorrow for too much honey roast gammon and spiced beef, then hosting Herself's sister and family on 27th/28th for too much fore rib of beef.
Boring food and much exercise ahead in January...

Well, that's that nearly over for another year then Everything went well here with no drama from unwanted family members. I did a vegi Yorkshire pudding dinner and later we had profiteroles and ice cream Mrs WW always likes pictures to send to friends and family and this was my favourite from the day... Struggling to open a present and getting a bit mad New Years Eve next and I hope we're all here to do it all again next year

Both my daughters and both grand kids plus my wife and I were at mum's for Christmas lunch and tea. As we left she was tearful and turned to her carer and said she wondered if this would be her last Christmas....... at least if it turns out that way, she enjoyed it much more than any of the previous 6 or 7

Been at the Mother in law’s since Christmas Eve with Sister in law and husband. I’ve been doing all the cooking, which I enjoy. I’ve just done a quick metal calculation and she has enough food here to survive a 43 day siege.

I 'cooked' (Very loose definition) Xmass and boxing day lunch for the old neighbour upstairs. She was happy and the alternative would have been a boxed meal. Nothing posh because Turkey was out but chicken did a resonable alternative and the slight twist worked surprisingly well. Stuffed and cooked in a bag with a fair bit of butter was actually very pleasant even if I do miss roast spuds and parsnips. I shall be checking to see if there is anything in the reduced section at Hasda be for new year to go weith the Beef goulash for new years. I find it a challenge to make something from whatever I find doing a Canary impersonation.

Happy new year to one and all. A very quiet one one for me with my girlfriend (which as a middle aged man sounds odd) and her daughter. Saw my kids earlier today and now chilling finishing off the Baileys before we crack on with sparkles/wine etc.
Steak dinner with Dauphinois and some greens (fine beans & asparagus) that I will be cooking (as I did the xmas dinner and almost all other meals) as I enjoy it way more than my partner.
Wishing everyone a great 2023. Whilst i can’t really complain too much about 2022 given I have a good job and don’t want for a great deal but it’s been a struggle & stressful on a few levels so crossing fingers that 2023 will be an improvement

Happy New Year. Currently eating dinner of sausages and chips and hoping I'll fall asleep before the fireworks that usually get let off on New Year's Eve make their noise.
2022 was yet another stressful year with plenty of lows/bad news, but also some good things for a change. It was yet another year where I finish with a different job to the one I had at the start of the year, and my mum's health problems didn't help my life, nor that of my brother. Somehow we all made it through though

Happy New Year all.
Just another Saturday in our house and awaiting the return to work will make tomorrow and Monday as fun as waiting in a rainy bus shelter for an N93 from Putney on a Wednesday when the tube and trains aren’t running to Wimbledon.

Happy new year all. I won't be sad to see the back of 2022. With the 2020s being an utter skip fire of a decade so far I really hope 2023 shows some sign of things being a bit less shit. Probably won't though but at least Arsenal look like a decent team again.
Quiet one at home for us too but I've got a few beers in the fridge and there's still plenty of naughty food left over from Christmas to nibble on. Hopefully the next couple of days will see a bit less rain so I can go for a nice long walk before getting back to work.

Happy New Year. We spent it at the local. It was a strangely quiet affair and we are now back home. I have mixed feelings about the coming year. I'm not sure I'm entirely looking forward to the future, which is very unlike me. I am not one to be melancholy.
We appear to have some adverts to bring in the New Year as well. I have an up to date ad free subscription so I don't know what the problem is. If they remain after a day or two I will look into it.
Update: It isn't just this forum with adverts, there are various complaints on the support board. Hopefully it will get sorted early in the week.

Mark. I'm not sure that many apart from the super-rich are looking forward to the future. With high energy prices, rampant inflation, a string of incompetent and possibly (cough) corrupt politicians in charge of, but incapable of, leading the country, a war going on where there seems no straightforward way of getting one side to see logic etc, I think very many of us aren't looking forward to the immediate future. For most of us things are going to be difficult or really tough for a couple of years or more. I don't have the most positive outlook on life but I'm trying to adopt more my younger daughter's approach of take everything as it comes, don't plan anything too far in advance and don't worry about the things you cannot change.
Happy 2023 everyone

Happy New Year to you all.
I’m expecting a particularly busy 2023 with a fair amount of change. Some difficult things ahead (work related) in the short term, but once through that I’m feeling positive and looking forward to the New Year. Just need to stop further ‘scope creep’ on the house extension, although to be fair I’m guilty of most of it….
