www.topgear.com/car-news/british/meet-new-ps60k-400bhp-lotus-emiraI Don't know if I've been living under a rock recently but this new Lotus has sneaked under my radar. What an amazing looking thing with the option of V6, Manual and Hydraulic steering. I can really see myself in one of these at some point. Its like they've designed it just for me. Outstanding. Looks like it should be £150K not under £60K

It's a great looking car and I agree, it does look like a supercar that would cost well over £100k.
A mate of mine leads the team responsible for Lotus marketing (external company), so I've been aware of it for a while and saw all the pictures from the photo shoot a few weeks ago, but have been sworn to silence. He's spent a lot of time with the car plus has been involved in comparisons to some of the competition and (although he is biased of course as it's his job to love it!) thinks it will be a very strong competitor to the 911 but at a lower price and in terms of the detailing and 'wow factor' apparently it's in line with much more expensive McLarens when you see it up close so does look and feel like a £150k car.
The mentioned £60k is for a standard 4 cylinder car, but for base 992 money you'd be able to get into a very well specced V6.
It has been in the car mags for a while and was teased a few weeks ago, so it shouldn't be a surprise!

Yep, can't say I'd noticed that before. Looks ace. The YouTube collective seem to love it

Fabulous looking car with a really smart interior.

I'd missed it too. I might've just passed it straight by as being yet another super/hypercar that has no relevance any more.
Seems like a last hurrah though, well done Lotus.

Hopefully Lotus can work some magic on the noise of the A45 engine.

Certainly impressive on first glance, and a decent interior as well ,hopefully no more putting your foot through the floor of the car.

Nice looking, but how long will the V6 be available when Mercedes already does the same engine with over 400 ponies? Can't imagine it'll be too long before it gets dropped and that, to me, would make it 100% less desireable. That kind of car needs more than 4 banger, even one with hairdryer and lots of horses.

Yes, it is a great looking car and i hope it sells really well. But I did wonder about the "£60k" write up. If that's a base 4 cylinder car, by the time you go V6 and a few options, I reckon it'll be an £80k car which. Which might put some people off and / or pitches it against higher opposition.

That looks great - a bit like a scaled down McLaren. If the pricing is right it could do very well.

A bit more 'special', but still a 2.0 4 cylinder, although it is competing with 4 cylinder Caymans at that price.

That's a great looking car. I like the idea that it's useable as it makes it that little bit more desirable for me. There's a (quite poor) configurator on the Lotus website and it seems to look better on small wheels or all silver wheels.

I do like that. I didn't know about this before too, so it could probably use more publicity.

Half the articles I’ve read suggest the 4 pot is the 400 bhp car and the more track focused option.

We looked into using the MB 45 engine in the Mono and decided against it because it is a phenomenally complex and strained bit of kit.
Just what you want in a low volume sports car.

It's been such a long time since I've been captivated by a new car - the Emira is stunning inside and out.
Supercharged V6 with a manual gearbox - you just know it's going to be an utter delight to drive.

Proper colour and silver forged wheels - wow Agreed. Dark green with tan leather and silver wheels is also available. That’s my current favourite, it’s perfect for a British Sports Car. V6 manual please.

I would choose the same spec as Martin. This is a rare and lovely thing in a world of cars now designed as transport rather than to delight.

Probably go green, silver wheels, manual, v6 and red leather for the proper classic look. I was at goodwood today and managed to get a sit inside one. Great quality even from the pre production models so no problems there to put me off. Speaking to one of the engineers he was saying how well it drove and thinks the price of the v6 manual launch edition cars will be about £72k

The 400hp V6 Launch Edition will cost £75,995. The standard spec is excellent, it’s even more amazing value for money than I thought. I wish I could have justified buying one

My spec comes in at £78,064 with a few select options like Tracker and Black Pack.
You got to wonder why Lotus has been so generous with the options. Porsche charges at least £500 to change the colour of the brake calipers, Up to 2K for colours without even getting into PTS, Climate, Electric Seats etc all cost a fortune. This thing is priced cheaper then a Cayman GTS. No doubt people shopping in this sector are used to hitting the expensive options list so wouldn't have been suicide to increase the costs.
