...Or replacement with W3.1? Way too expensive the second time.

I’ve been told by W2.1 to fuck off with this classic car shit. It’s a fun battleground. After years of wondering, I think I may have realised why so many women simply don't "get" classic or even older cars. Given the choice, men tend to like women new, young, fit and very energetic. This clearly pisses some women off. So, they think, in that case what's with men liking cars that are older, less reliable, and slightly worn? This makes them even more annoyed at the double standard. Proving to them, yet again, that all men are bastards.

Maybe older women looking for a new adventure need to reinvent themselves as Classics. Or Barn Finds. Don't make 'em like that any more, properly tactile feel, plenty of character, and either 'delightfully original patina' or 'fastidious full restoration'...

That conjures up some visions I really don't want to consider!

Reminds me a wedding attended in the late 80s. He was a late 20s Burt Reynolds lookalike with a car history of XJ12C, Pontiac Firebird of some years age she was an early 40s well maintained but clearly well serviced over the years.
The brother’s best man speech included the line “ watch out for him and his cars. He’s always shown an interest in older models with a lot of miles on the clock….”
The new wife laughed …… then realised. Then stopped laughing.

The Executive & Prestige section doesn’t look bad. Maintained regardless of cost.

Those Executive and Prestige ones are probably garage queens as well. Regularly buffed, but rarely taken out and given a proper spanking.

I'd probably insist on an extended, unaccompanied test drive before pulling the trigger.

I'd probably insist on an extended, unaccompanied test drive before pulling the trigger. When I was in my early twenties and living with a girl, we went to visit my uncle and aunt in Yorkshire. Even then (early 1980's) many older people found the concept of couples "living in sin" hard to stomach. But my uncle said to us, in his broad Yorkshire accent, "This trying a woman out before you marry her. I think that sounds lie a good idea".

OK. Build week 29; due to arrive in UK mid August, so I'll likely delay registration until 1st September as we'll likely be away anyhow.

I’ve just had a quick look at the Configurator to see if i was right in thinking the colour you’ve chosen was a £2k option and they are now showing the 19” wheels as an option on the 530e estate.
Is your order locked down or still amendable? If not, it means they fit and gives you the option to change post delivery.

Change made Thanks again Martin, although if it rides like a 19th century horse-drawn cart I'll blame you immediately.

Change made Thanks again Martin, although if it rides like a 19th century horse-drawn cart I'll blame you immediately. Excellent news! It is going to look even better, I know you’ll be happy when you see it. With Adaptive suspension you’ll be fine. They’re still only 19” which isn’t a big wheel for a 5 series sized car. It’s the same sidewall as I had on the 535d, which had M Sport non adaptive suspension, because I thought it was very comfortable without, thanks partly to the rear air suspension. I would have added adaptive to the saloon, but with the estate there were other things I wanted more and I’d already blown the budget.

To be fair the Gorilla rides on 20” and feels best in Sport in town where it deals with awful road surfaces far better but I use Normal or Comfort for motorway cruising. I used Sport plus on a consistency trial once and it stood still spinning up its wheels at the green light 😆

I’m in the same position, the 750 would spin the wheels at 70mph when it was wet but I’ve not had any wheelspin for a year. Mind you, I can use 4WD as an excuse!

I was just looking through the 7 series LCI thread, interesting comment from BB given the spec of the new eco wagon….. “That’s monumentally revolting. I saw a G30 5er head on today with chrome deleted grille. Munter.”

Ah but that was the pre-LCI grille. If I recall it was also a black car. However I’ve also looked at swapping the grille to chrome but see how it goes.
Interestingly the semi conductor shortage means I won’t have enhanced Bluetooth and wireless charging but the discount applied means the 19” wheels are almost no cost.

Not long now. The car arrived in the UK this week. Excellent! Did you have to adjust the spec because of the semi conductor shortage or is it all as ordered?

Lost the wireless charging and the enhanced Bluetooth. Saved almost enough to go up to the 19" wheels I would have paid for anyway.

Lost the wireless charging and the enhanced Bluetooth. Saved almost enough to go up to the 19" wheels I would have paid for anyway. That's not too bad. I know of people having to drop HUD and upgraded speaker systems from their builds. Wireless charging isn't a huge loss as it doesn't do much more than hold the charge, so I used to plug mine in most of the time and use the wireless charging for the display key. I found Enhanced Bluetooth really useful (paid for it as an option in the 535d and was standard in the 750) because I've got 2 phones, so being able to connect both at the same time was great and something I miss. The other features like second microphone above the passenger seat are less useful.

If I’d have lost HUD the car would not be coming anywhere near my house. I’ve got an Anker power pack and a plug in 3.0 amp charger plus the car has a billion usb-c ports anyway. The recent trip showed the phone can do a day on the road with only one charge needed. Which reminds me I need to write it up - the last journey in the Gorilla.
