It boils my piss that the government gives a perfectly reasonable position as outlined above. Then the opposition and Media make it their mission to ask as many 'arse wiping' questions as possible before proclaiming the position confused.
It is a constant battle I have at work eg what happens if an employee forgets their tacho card....and then they want a telephone directory sized guide covering all eventualities....
My unpopular response was we have an existing conduct code, it is your job as managers to use that in each situation, from coaching to formal.....

Is it not partly because the Government have managed to give so many mixed/contradictory messages over the previous 14 months that absolute clarification is needed?
Remember as well that a lot of people DO appear to need simple governmental instruction to, er, wipe their arse. Even prior to the virus we've become a nation of zombies unable to think freely or apply simple common sense.

Apart from the fact that they aren't.
In your opinion - they have not done something that has then put them in the position requiring help (A&E is full of wally brains who have done just that) and the time during which you have not done something is largely irrelevant.
Someone hospitalised from Covid likely has other health issues (aside from being old) that has made the problem worse - good luck isolating the problem and then declaring that " on the balance of probabilities " they have caught Covid, Covid has made them ill, it's their fault they caught it because they didn't take the vaccine and they don't have a legitimate excuse to not take the vaccine - so they can fuck off and be unwell elsewhere.

It's the new "gotcha" form of journalism that applies in England. Far more important to make a government minsiter (of the hated Tories) look bad than explain the message.

The propaganda is working then. Not on me it's not, no. My views on SAGE are pretty strong and I really doubt that lock-downs work. But, my libertarian tendencies tell me that if somebody who has the option to take a vaccination refuses it and ends up in hospital then there is a real financial costs to the NHS (and thus to taxpayers) and an impact on the rest of society to whom we all have a responsibility. Taking a vaccination is totally different to trying to give up smoking or lose weight (taking your follow on point). The latter require effort, time, will power etc and not everyone is capable of that. For the Covid vaccination all you have to do is turn up, answer a few questions and show your upper arm. Hardly an imposition on your life or an unreasonable expectation in my view. Now that a vaccination is available, I think it the socially responsible thing to do to take it.

Got my second Pfizer yesterday. Was fine after the first one. Headaches, lack of sleep and an arm that feels like I’ve been benchpressing with it all day are the result of this one. Since everyone in work has been taking time off for thsir shots, I’m not going in today, and am delighted that I’m not. Hope to get some sleep and watch some football instead.

The government isn’t ordering us to go to green classified countries with immediate effect, neither are they banning us from going to most other countries (probably best to avoid Israel right now) but apparently we need to be told in Janet and John hand outs whether it’s safe to take a shit in a public toilet or not. This.. just because a country is on the green list does not mean we all have to rush there on holiday, it simply means that if you choose to go there, you can return without having to quarantine. A holiday as soon as a country goes on the list is NOT compulsory. A majority are apparently lacking in common sense and feel it is their absolute right to go on a foreign holiday as soon as it's no longer illegal to do so. We are still in the middle of a global pandemic, just because we have the virus under significant retreat in the UK does not mean that it is safe, or desirable, to travel abroad for leisure purposes

Just been for my second jab down at the Battersea Arts Centre. Curiously different experience from the first one.
First one, there was no queue, I just had to confirm my name and DOB, and that I had an appointment, and then they jabbed me and shoved me out the door. In and out in five minutes tops.
This time, it took 45 minutes, between a queue (about 10 people), several sets of questions from different people with clipboards, and then a requirement to wait 15 mins before leaving (because I was driving).
Still, no complaints - all very friendly and pleasant.

Booked in for No2 next Tuesday evening. No idea which one I'm getting, let's see what the dice of chance throw my way and whether I need the day off work on Wednesday.

I got my tenth reminder letter "We notice you have not had a first covid vaccine so go ahead and book online and we'll get you protected".
I keep telling these twits that their own advice is that I NOT have the vaccine. Each time I go through the same bullshit routine, I call the vaccination team and they say "Talk to your GP". I then talk to the gp sir jerry and the receptionist say's, "Go and tell the vaccination team".
Seriously?
