At the moment, me. Only person here and limited space/dosh so one car suffices. I would like a 912 but that will have to wait for the right time oh and an Alfaholics motor of some variety too. Yep, get your point.

I’m going to take the kids back in the Golf tomorrow and I’m looking forward to the drive back in particular, it will be a very different experience but equally enjoyable in its own way. That is a common theme with Rangies: very rarely have I seen them to be owned as the only car on the driveway. Mind you who only wants one vehicle on a forum like this? Exactly. It’s impossible for one vehicle to delivery everything a car enthusiast wants. I’m a long way from having everything covered, I think I’d need 4-5 cars as a minimum to achieve that.

OK - I'm another one that is missing a thread. I see the one about the 750 going back. I see the one about the warranty renewal being pricey (and a comment about JLR making theirs one year on approved used cars, and then with age and mileage restrictions, the old 2 year one was a lot better!).
I don't see loads of agonising about buying a RR!!!
Edited to add: Ahh, family truck, is that it???

I don't see loads of agonising about buying a RR!!! There wasn't, was there? Under a week from having little publically-stated clue about what to get, to taking delivery

I didn't say I didn't have a clue a week before taking delivery, I just went through the process of looking and how I got to the decision.

How is it going with the FFRR?

How is it going with the FFRR? It's a bit strange having a new car and using it so little, I've only done 315 miles in it so far. But all good so far thanks, even short journeys are just so relaxing and The only annoying thing so far is it doesn't remember the distance for the voodoo cruise, it always starts up in miles away mode, so sometimes when you switch it on it brakes straight away. I have discovered that when you go past Audi mode, you can turn it off and use it as normal cruise, so that's what I'll probably do unless I'm in traffic, as I know I'll really appreciate it then (never been a fan of voodoo cruise). I'm particularly enjoying the cooled seats, they're not as powerful as the ones in the Mustang convertible I had in Vegas last year, but they're great when it's warm and I used the remote climate to cool the car last Thursday afternoon which made things so much more pleasant. The cameras are excellent, even better than the BMW system because you get everything that had other than the look around the car view (which looked good, but was never any use) including junction/wide angle view front and rear plus a camera that zooms in and shows you exactly where the wheels are which is great. Both exterior mirrors dip when you're reversing as well, so despite it's size, parking and manoeuvring at low speeds it really easy. Booked 10 days away on the South Coast in August, so it's going on a family holiday.

It looks like the other thread was off topic for the last few pages so apologies if this was covered, but (given size was important) did you consider the Tesla SUV? They look colossal on the road, not sure if the packaging is any good...
And yes JLR cooled seats are awesome in really hot weather, especially if in work clothes!

I had a sit in and poke around a Model X a year or so ago and there would probably be plenty of space but they're a funny looking thing and not exactly high quality. The equipment level is OK, but not great and the 7 seat long range / base model is close to £90k or over that if you want the self driving capability.

It does, just slightly different wheels. It’s the main car in the brochure and price list, but most people still buy a black one.

Is Range Rover reliability really that bad? It gets thrown out there when people discuss them or review them but is it just a case of a dog unable to shake a bad name? I've heard they've invested billions on improving reliability so is it improving and are they on an upward trajectory? This video is based on a reliability study by an aftermarket warranty company. All of the German brands except VW are in the bottom 10, but guess who's last...

Doesn’t read well for a lot of manufacturers and if the RR is close to the Porsche reliability then I’ll be very happy.
I’ve only had a scan through the video, but isn’t it based on cars that have an aftermarket warranty with one company, so they’re all older cars and the ranking in based on the average cost of repair? Then it’s only getting data from cars where people think they need to have an extended warranty, which is why Porsche is second from bottom.
Anyone with any sense at all would take out the manufacturers extended warranty on a Land Rover / Range Rover. It’s not that expensive.
Audi isn’t much better Simon, you should get rid....

It's true that they don't fare much better and I do tend to think that the more premium the brand the more picky the owners can be, but we've had three Audis previous to the one I have now and none of them have had anything go wrong with them. The picture Carwow chose for the link to the video does tell some sort of story though...

Most of us on here are f***ed then according to that video!!! I was stood behind a gorgeous dark blue RR at the dealership on Monday waiting for my lift, when a guy form the showroom came out to move it. Great - hope its a V8 - I thought. Then it crept disappointingly away on electric power

Went off road today, not that impressive when an M3 was parked further up the carpark..... Followed it up with some green laning, but that was on foot. At least it had grass beneath its wheels for a couple of hours and it still looks clean after nearly 5 hours driving in the rain on Wednesday.

It's going into the garage on Wednesday. But fear not doubters, it's not broken, just a couple of things that should have been right when it was collected!
- There is a scratch on the gloss black B Pillar trim and they promised that if it didn't polish out then they would replace the trim. It looked fine when I picked it up, but they obviously used something with fillers in because after a couple of washes the scratch is fully back. So they're going to fit a new B Pillar trim
- One of the parking sensors isn't fixed in securely, which I only noticed when I was cleaning off the oily crap their 'detailers' put on the plastic trim. It's either unclipped or the clip has been broken, everything works fine, but if it doesn't at some point I don't want to be told it's because I've bumped it and broken the sensor. Anyway, it's not right, so needs to be sorted.
- The locking wheel nut key is missing and they need the car to be able to order a new one. I would have got the local dealer to do it and the supplying dealer to pick up the tab, but might as while do it while its in.
They've been absolutely fine about it, very keen to get it back and sort it out. I'm not keen on the 55 mile each way trip and really don't have the time. The service department are very busy and they don't have any delivery/collection drivers or loan cars for a few weeks, so the sales team are sending one of their delivery drivers with a demo car to collect it.
It should have been right first time of course, but I can't complain about the service.

They cant get it right all the time but at least they're willing to put it right which is better service than some garages would give you.

Plus they're sending somebody to get it and leave you a demo, which is more good service.

Yes, it is decent service.
The dealer I bought the car from has a very good reputation, they’re privately owned and do seem to understand good service. I was really impressed by them through the sales process, good to see that’s continued.
I’m very tempted to use them for servicing despite having a couple of dealers much closer.

Hatfields, my local Jag dealer who are really good for customer service and a privately owned dealer group, took over the local Land Rover franchise from Shukers (or Fu&&ers as I called them) who were fu%%ing useless.

Be careful with the scratch repair. I have a long shallow scratch on my bootlid (not sure how, but on one previous saloon I once witnessed from a distance a woman get out of a car next to mine, and drag her handbag over my boot as she went to put it on lazily, causing a long slight scratch from a buckle, and this is similar). Early on in lockdown I tried all of my various waxes/polishes/restorers and all of them fill the thing so it's totally invisible, then a week or two later, even of not using the car, it's distinctly visible if you know where to look... It would be very easy for them to say "it left here fine" when its just the filler all waxes have in them making it temporarily look better...
I'm not sure I like daily drivers being absolutely perfect, as they age and become worth less I almost feel relieved. I've not repaired the marks on my rear bumper from reversing into a post, and two years into ownership and having trebled the mileage on the car, I'm not sure I will... Likewise the wheels have been kerbed a bit and painted back over in gloss black enamel, only within a metre or so is it visible. Having a totally perfect car is part joy and part fear every time it is parked, or the kids run past it. Am I the only one?
