Phew, you got home! 😄 Seriously, that’s lovely. I can’t say that it didn’t cross my mind that I might see a warning light....I’m sure that will pass! Got a 200 mile trip tomorrow, so it will get a decent run. Thank you

That looks fantastic, congratulations. Is the glovebox lining purple? I noticed it was in the one belonging to a friend but his is pre-facelift. Thanks Michael. No, just a standard black felt lining. One other things that stands out, the carpet mats! The 7 series ones are thicker than they are in other BMWs, but these have a much deeper pile again.

Thank you In terms of apprehension I think I'd have been more concerned about the paint on your last car getting damaged. When Land Rovers break down they can usually be fixed pretty sharpish and the service they offer if things do go wrong is very good. The risk with that paint was it could be fixed but might never be right. Just enjoy it.

You’re right, it was something I tried not to worry about but it was often at the back of my mind. It helped when it got scraped at the dealer and they had to fix it, took them a couple of attempts and help from the BMW UK pain specialist, but at least I knew there was someone who could paint it properly. Matching the colour isn’t the issue, it was painting it so all the flakes my right on the car..... I wouldn’t do it again, even though it looked amazing. I’ve only experienced the sales side of their service, but I’ve been very impressed. The buying experience was better than the BMW dealer in Bedford and much better than the one in Northampton. The salesman couldn’t have been more helpful and apologetic that he’s been unable to give me the service thay he could do normally due to CV19. Even though he’s not working this weekend, he’s said I can email him if I have any questions and he’ll try and help and when he’s back, if there’s anything I’m not sure about, to give him a call and he’ll answer the question or record me a video if it about the functionality of the car.

Has yours got the zoned seat heating? Backrest separate to the base of the seat?

And back home The economy wasn't bad really, but the BMW managed an indicated 38.9 with almost the exact same average speed. That will be about 36.5 real mpg, no idea how optimistic/pessimistic the new one is yet. Looks great. My brother's classic Mk 1 Range Rover did 11 MPG, so they have clearly improved.

Have you got to wait for the V5C to drop thought he letterbox before you can put your "F1" plate on it? Will you be getting the correct size custom rear plate ??

Looks fantastic. In natural light the colour looks more grey than it did in the dealer photos. It suits the car.
I am sure after 200 miles you won't want to get out.

I though of you when I walked into the showroom and just to the side of the reception desk was an immaculate grey XJR 575, just needed the black wheels refurbished in silver.

I must confess the original dealer pics you showed didn't really give a proper idea of the colour (I didn't really like it to be brutally frank) but that is lovely, both inside and out!
I wouldn't want to get out after 2 miles, never mind 200!

I've always tried to get a model of each car I've had, but never had much success. I've got a red Midget (almost identical to the Sprite) and a Guards Red Boxster which is in the winter spec with silver wheels, bur unfortunately I've not been able to get a BMW that's close enough for me to be happy with it. I can get a mid range Golf Mk7 in dark blue, but it's a bit too different to the R, so if anyone knows where I can get one that would be appreciated. Just given this to Lindsay as a Birthday ideas, which she's delighted with as I always struggle with ideas, ideas within budget anyway! OK, the interior colour isn't right, but it's an Autobiography in the correct exterior colour and exterior trim with silver wheels, just a different style wheel. Close enough 1:18 scale, so about 28cm / 11" long

£25k gets you a Vogue with 90-100k miles and a choice of 3.0 or 4.4 engines. There's also a mix of tasteful and not tasteful cars!

I'm not going to go any further than looking on Autotrader! I like them but at my price level it really would be too much of a risk. Definitely too big a risk. Yeah but part of me wants to use man-maths together with, shall we call it Covid Maths, to get to an answer that says from the point the office re-opens I'll be working from home for 3 days a week, my mileage will fall even further than it had done prior to lockdown and the risk of a wallet-melting car problem will thus reduce. However that sort of thinking is already leading me to question whether I should replace the 320 with a 440i or something more sporting like another 370! What I really need is more money

Nice.
Don't get the wait for the registration: you should have been able to deregister the BMW and get the new (original) number for that online with immediate effect and the dealer for the RR should have been able to do the same as you stood in the show room and gave them the ID for the private plate you were just issued. Of all the departments in the DfT the DVLA is streets ahead in terms of technology, support and reliability. They have an MD there that won't have it any other way.

Couple round the corner from us traded their two cars in for 69-plated X-Trail and i10 (from a Qashqaui and Captur respectively) on Monday, and both have their gitplates on as of yesterday.

Successful first day out with the five of us. The little man likes being able to see out properly, which he’s not used to (rear facing seat) and middle son had plenty of space, he said he’d happily do a long journey in the middle and particularly liked the flat floor and having more foot room. He’s right when he says he’ll be able to take turns with his big brother as he’ll fit in the middle too.
I’ve done about 350 miles since we picked it up and I am really enjoying wafting around feeling nice and relaxed.
I’ll admit to being a bit unsure on Friday, which was the first time I’d driven it on my own so not at baby on board speed. I went around the 90 degree left turn filter lane on the dual carriageway at my normal speed and immediately missed the 750. However, that soon went away and I really did enjoy the next 3.5 hours behind the wheel.
I’m going to take the kids back in the Golf tomorrow and I’m looking forward to the drive back in particular, it will be a very different experience but equally enjoyable in its own way.

That is a common theme with Rangies: very rarely have I seen them to be owned as the only car on the driveway. Mind you who only wants one vehicle on a forum like this?
