Why can't electric cars have normal door handles?

Wow, that how you destroy 50 years of a brand like Mustang in one model.
Yes I know only a few mustangs have been good in that time but, wow this things plain nasty.

The only decent Mustangs have been the very first ones and the very latest ones. Everything inbetween has been various shades of shite.

I would have thought the Bronco would have made more sense as a brand than this.

It certainly does nothing to excite and looks a bit i-Pace from the rear but at least Ford now have their foot firmly on the first rung of the electric car ladder. When we know what the price is we will know if it will sell well!

When we know what the price is we will know if it will sell well! It's on the Ford UK configurator already, so you can see the UK prices. I don't like it at all and the only Mustang styling bits are the rear lights and if you squint a bit, the rear wheel arches.

A lot of people must be on the configurator because it won't open! I see that they start from just over £40K which should be cheap enough to allow it to gain a bit of traction in the market and people who buy electric cars aren't really going to avoid doing so based on looks, so I reckon it could do well.

I would have thought they had other brands that could be butchered to better effect.

When I was at Ford, we did research which ended up showing that a lot of people didn't associate Mustang with Ford, and thought it was a standalone nameplate.
I'm not sure why they took that information and ended up with this.

Well, to row against the tide, I don't find that unpleasant to look at in a dark colour (as that hides the odd front treatment). The interior looks a bit naff with the huge Tesla aping central screen and small screen in front of the driver. If they really wanted to stay with the Mustang theme, they should have stuck with more traditional interior treatments.
The extended range RWD at "only" £50k-ish might attract people as the range looks good. I guess it all depends on how much the PCP costs.

Apparently the knob is held in place by a special glue, so, how many times does it fall off in between service trips?

What I love most is that it's sending all the Mustang freaks into a meltdown.

This was mentioned a few times in yesterdays NASCAR finale, it was a Ford-sponsored event, it sort of made sense. But the Pace Car was a Shelby GT500, and well...
I'm sure Youtubers will soon post footage of a Mustang Mach smoking a combustion Mustang, SEE, ITS FASTER.

What the actual fuck? Using the Mustang name for that? Surely Ford could have come up with something far better than that.
The concept is fine but drop the Mustang stuff because it is not a Mustang and has absolutely sod all connection to any Mustang, whatever they cĺaim.

Everything inbetween has been various shades of shite. +1.... it was reputed that Ford were looking to bring back the "Bronco" name in the USA, and surely that would make far more sense on their side of the Pond than using "Mustang" I certainly don't lust after one of these.......

Regardless of the name the reviews coming from the US suggest that quality is high on these - a step up on the average Ford product, and superior to Tesla.

My only other concern is how the crowds outside a car show are going to know a Mustang is going to crash into them if they can't hear it coming?

I think in many countries outside of America, Ford doesn't have much of a heritage or history as such, and the Mustang is such an iconic car on its own. It's much the same as Viper or Corvette methinks.

Never taken off outside America, and this will be no different. The Mustang's equivalent in Europe was the Capri, which certainly did take off. I expect to see something slightly smaller called the Capri emerge from this - it'll sit between this and the electric Puma.

Never taken off outside America, and this will be no different. Well it's only this current generation that's been sold worldwide, as all previous versions were (officially) US only. But lots of people have seen and are aware of the Mustang through movies, TV shows and etc.

Wow, that how you destroy 50 years of a brand like Mustang in one model. Did they not already do that when they dropped a 4 pot in it?

As has been pointed out already, the Mustang has been dining out on the original 1964 version for a long time. The 80s and 90s Mustangs were pretty shit - the 2.3 4 pot first showed up in the 80s Foxbody turd.

It could be worse, they might've offered a range of lifestyle products, laptops, aftershave and god knows what other crap all branded Mustang. Of course, they'd be following in the footsteps pf other such well known brands as Ferrari. AMG have branched out into bodykits and 4 pot motors and it doesn't appear to have done them any harm
