C8 got a 10/10, reference status, and was described as the most complete tv avforums have ever tested

I'm still wary of backlit TVs - apparently individually-lit LEDs will come at some point - and OLED is still comically expensive at the largest sizes.

The C8 is £1999 in the Black Friday sales in 65" flavour. That’s the B8 I think as I saw the currys tv advert last night . C8 gets the newer processor etc. . B8 is still a great tv judging by the reviews though

I was briefly looking at TVs at the weekend and PC World are doing some sort of Sony 55inch thing for under £600. It might've been an LED. Is that a deal?
I was startled at the price of sound bars though - easy to spend £300-400 on one of those. That seems steep.

Unless something has changed significantly, which I doubt, it’s the manufacturers who are in cahoots rather than the retailers. When I worked for HRG I got a copy of the Argos weekly sales and margins report and every TV was sold at a loss. The manufacturers have sales incentives and volume based rebates, which meant they controlled the actual retail prices.

Well that explains it more logically, but there's definitely price fixing going on. Every shop has every TV at the same price at the same time, so the punter never finds a bargain anywhere nowadays. That’s true. I’m still holding off, not sure what for though. Other than still suffering from the pain of having to transfer enough money to buy a 65” 8k TV to the tax man.

Same deal Richers has had running for a couple of months now. They also have one that's £13k off. But still costs £12k... I'm hoping that size will have come down to something more palatable in 2-3 years. Price of the cheapest LG 77" screen at Richers has halved over the last year. Still some way to go as far as I'm concerned, and a pause to see whether non-backlit QLED does come along, as it seems to have advantages over OLED.
Part of me wishes that mine would develop a fault so I'd have 'no choice' but to get a bigger screen, but maybe it's being that bit older that's giving me more patience.
