I have just received an e-mail inviting me to a virtual gin tasting evening - how does that work then? Do I need to virtually imagine the taste too as I virtually get drunk? From what I understand, a number of you will be sent out different samples, and you open them up and taste them simultaneously whilst on a video conference call I just looked it up - it's £60 and I get sent a load of miniatures but I then have to go out and buy a load of different tonics and various berries and other fruits to garnish them with. Might be fun!

That's reminded me that I got a gin tasting gift set for Christmas and when following the instructions on the box discovered that Sipsmith's sloe gin goes very well with Fever Tree Lemon Tonic Water. I must go and buy some.

Read in the news this morning that a cyclist had been killed on a road at 5:30am in the city I live in. What caught my attention is that it was up near my job and when I drove there, having dropped the kids to school at 8, I saw that they had still closed the road (I was going in the other direction) and the body was there under a tarp.
I was surprised it was still there and they hadn’t moved it but then again, they were probably still taking forensics as there were police everywhere.
Poor guy was crossing the road (not sure why he crossed where he did- there is nothing on either side of the carriage way that would make someone cross there) and got hit by a Prius on a 55mph stretch. Died instantly.
Then I saw another crash on my way home this evening, someone in a PT Cruiser had put it into the inside of the slip road bank entering the interstate, causing a big tailback. I can understand the urge to smash a PT Cruiser into a grassy bank but surely there are better places?

Listening to my boss describe the accident we arrived at yesterday while he was on the phone, and he was making all the car noises as he described it.
We were driving out of Tesla at the time and it made me wonder, is the current and next generation of kids going to have to make silent car sounds when they talk about cars in 20 years time?
Imaging the conversations...
“Back when people were killed on the roads because humans did all the driving” “What?” “Yeah, we had to steer the car and put a highly explosive substance into it every few hundred miles”
“Wow”
“And some people got to drive a car with a manual gearbox”
“What did you do with your coffee?”
“Held it in our hands while we texted!”

Mission accomplished today, I managed to get my hair cut this morning for the first time in over 4 months.
Got to the barbers just after 8:30am, all 3 were already working on people and for the third time since I've been using them, when I got just a few yards from the door someone else just beat me to the door from the opposite direction, so I had to wait about 10 minutes instead of being able to walk straight in. Walking round town to go back to the car afterwards (and whilst doing a bit of shopping), collectively the barbers, hairdressers and nail salons were the busiest shops that were open. But the prize for the place with the longest queue with most people in it goes to Greggs..... yes, at 9:30am there were about a dozen people lining up to buy pasties or whatever

It seems that in the excitement of any freedom people just can't resist joining a queue for anything at the moment.

I think the issue of highly explosive substances pales into insignificance when considering the perils of lithium ion battery fires. Let’s not mention Tesla and autonomous driving in the same post considering they are banned from using that word (along with other similar self-driving based statements) in advertising in Germany. If this whole “getting in the back / sitting I the passenger seat” bollocks was going on with any other car manufacturer then there would be some major industrial bankruptcies going on!

Someone at work told me an interesting true story about a chicken today Were you offended? I recall a Frank Skinner quip that he’d offended an audience member with a “why did the chicken cross the road” joke because their parents had been killed swerving to avoid a chicken that was crossing the road.

Did you know that in order to collect chicken blood for medical research purposes, it is usually "done" at an abatoir using a bucket, held by hand, at the stage on the "production line" just after the chicken's head is removed?

I must admit I assumed the chickens all had blood donor cards and attended a session at their local church hall to donate. Then sat around afterwards with a cup of tea and a custard cream.

It's the 5th of May and it's snowing in Glasgow!!
What is going on?
I have only cut my grass twice so far this year whereas last year I would be on cut number 5 or 6 by now.

Someone mnetioned it was snowing near us today (I'm off this week); never saw snow, but we had another brief but fierce hailstorm today!

We had a hailstorm so bad late in the morning today, that we had piles of hail laying around like snow afterwards. We were out in the horse lorry and the roads looked like snow had fallen.

It's been a cold day down south too and we also had a brief hailstorm when having dinner earlier, followed a few minutes later by bright sunshine. Forecast is that it will get close to freezing tonight. The weather is truly mixed up

This stupid bird has been hanging around for a while now, how the cats have missed making him into a meal is boggling, foxes too.

Saw a learner driver in a Renault Zoe yesterday. Which made me think that the driving test / licensing system is going to become pretty disjointed once we all end up in EV's. I guess the skill to drive (and holding a licence to drive) a manual car will just fall away within a generation.

26 miles range on a full tank. Don’t even have the pleasure of a V8! thankfully it righted itself when I got moving.
