"I'll work day and night to give you the Labour Party you deserve" You could take that quote in so many different ways. Doesn't really say much about his policy direction. Another nobody.

Starmer is head and shoulders above anything else they have been led by for decades. IMOHO, of course.

Starmer is head and shoulders above anything else they have been led by for decades. IMOHO, of course. But he's boring as fuck! He's been un the post less than a year and already finds himself struggling to lawyer Boris at PMQs and missing the open goals that should be easily being scored when he gets to the dispatch box. He's also slowly finding the Corbyn issue starting to rear its ugly head again because he never properly sorted it out. And if your looking back decades remember that the time period your looking at included them being led by Tony Blair who was a three time election winner. If he makes it to 2025 I don't see Starmer beating the Tories as it stands.

If he makes it to 2025 I don't see Starmer beating the Tories as it stands. At the moment I reckon it's more likely that a Labour win would be courtesy of the Tories throwing it away which is a definite possibility with the people they have at the moment, imo of course. ETA Farage has been very quiet recently, has her been struck down by Covid or something equally unpleasant? He could easily continue to be a thorn in the Tories side.

Bugger, inside pane of glass on one of the extension’s Velux has just shattered. I wish the Mrs wouldn’t sing.. An update on this as it shows good service. I phoned a number on Velux' website on Saturday and was put in touch with one of their installation agents. Yesterday they came out and replaced the double glazed in unit in the broken Velux and the one next to it, free of charge, under warranty. Considering the units were put in 20 years ago that's tremendous, I thought I was going to have to claim on my insurance.

A distant, elderly relative died recently and Mrs Tim asked me to pick up some condolence cards for his daughter and her kids (my cousins). No problem, I was heading to WH Smith anyway.
I don't know about anyone else but in these virus times I feel like I shouldn't stand around perusing cards, etc for a long time for fear of being a roadblock, not helped by my local branch being quite small. I couldn't immediately see the required cards and there were no assistants to hand so I was getting a tad flustered by the time I finally found them. It was a bit weird that they were beside the 'Congratulations on your marriage' type cards but hey ho. The language on them appeared correct - 'So Very Sorry', etc. Another point is that the cards were only small, I didn't pick them up for a browse (because you don't do that now, do you) and there was just a choice of 3.
Anyway, back home feeling pleased with myself at which point Mrs Tim asked me why I'd bought them.
Turns out the first line of the card, very small, gold lettering was 'Thanks for the invite', followed by 'So Very Sorry To Miss It', finished off with 'Hope you have fun'.
Whoops!

There's no problem looking at cards, the virus is supposed to only last a maximum of a few minutes on paper. That's why posties are out delivering and have been from the start of the pandemic - I had to check this for my mum last March as she was worried about handling her post and newspaper. I had a reasonable browse when selecting a Mothers Day card recently, and also a Wedding Anniversary card for my brother and his wife (tomorrow, 5th)

We had some of our Velux glass replaced as the seals had gone, but we did have to pay. They were nearly 30 years old so that's good going.

I’ve never been that worried about the post but then again 60 of the 80 staff at our local sorting office went off with Covid so maybe I should be.

Just checking something at random... the latest forecast opening date for the Elizabeth Line is during the first half of 2022 ! That means it will be getting on for 3 1/2 years late, presuming it doesn't slip any further

Non, no. In his case it's not 85 years but it is the same date !
Perish the thought but I reckon it's now probably 15 years or more since he got married... how time flies

I have just received an e-mail inviting me to a virtual gin tasting evening - how does that work then? Do I need to virtually imagine the taste too as I virtually get drunk?

From what I understand, a number of you will be sent out different samples, and you open them up and taste them simultaneously whilst on a video conference call
