At the MB R&D facility today. Lots to see but drove around the back and saw their fleet of autonomous vehicles parked so took out my iPhone 11 and snapped the shot below. thought I’d take a shot with my work phone- an iPhone 12 Pro Max. couldn’t believe the difference between them!

Cameras on phones have improved greatly in a very short period of time. I thought the camera on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was superb (and it was) until I got the new Samsung S21 Ultra recently. It blows it into the weeds.

Renault just announced a Euro 8 billion loss. That's going some. Mind you they only made Euro 20 million profit the year before, so any reduction in volume (as has happened) was always going to be calamitous. Unlike other companies, the French government's 15% shareholding means that real cost savings are almost impossible. I expect Macron will need to get his cheque book out again for some totally reasonable "level playing field" backhand subsidy that isn't illegal state aid at all.

Well they've not been banned just a small warning at the start of the affected episodes. I'm not sure I'm going to be triggered by that, much as I love a Muppet Show binge watch.

Something hit the windscreen in the RR last Wednesday, huge bang and an instant crack. Thankfully it's turned out to be just small enough for a repair and all looks OK. I was really hoping it didn't need a new windscreen, as not only would they have to get exactly the right one, they all have cameras and heating, but mine has a solar attenuating screen which is an option even on the AB, they would have to do a good job fitting it and would also have to get the calibration for the voodoo lights sorted as well. Just had a chat with the Autoglass guy and they have a workshop about a mile away with Hella equipment which I'm told is a big screen which you set up and add the relevent barcode for the car to and it calibrates automatically. So not quite as concerned now, but hopefully the repair holds, as I'd rather not have a new screen if it can be avoided.

That's a ball ache and I appreciate your concern with all the tech. The repairs are usually pretty invisible these days.

My wife's Audi A5 Cabrio had a screen replaced and the car was never the same - the tinting looked slightly different and the auto wipers were never as good.

That's the sort of thing I was worried about. I've not had a replacement windscreen for a long time (thankfully), not since I had a company car, i can't even remember which one it was that long ago.

The wipers now sometimes slap against the drivers A pillar and when I had them checked they are in the right place. So it must be the screen that is slightly out.

I got a new windscreen on the M5 a couple of years ago and the auto wipers were fine but on the 1st journey out a foot long, inch thick branch hit the screen. Fortunately it didn't damage it aside from leaving a large amount of sap on it. As an aside the E39 auto wipers are several levels better than the F3x 3 series ones.

Auto wipers are so variable, even on the same make of car. The ones in the 750 were great, much better than the 520d and even better than the 535d which I was happy with.

My Legacy was on screen number five when I eventually sold it! No auto wipers on that car, and no issues with tint colour as so many JDM cars had. I did have one of them where the fitting wasn't quite right and shorted out the heated screen elements. That was changed FOC within days, no harm done.
So far with the Skoda, it was the rear screen that imploded Christmas week 2019; it couldn't get replaced until New years Day 2020 - bit of an omen that, thinking back .. .. ..

The rear screen on my 2nd Stilo imploded the day after I hit a massive pothole. It did it when I closed the door after getting in (not the first time after the pothole!).

I used the Kuga today for my "essential" food shopping trip, with a slight detour down the M3 to give it a bit of a run and charge the battery, and I also added fuel to it on the way home. Since Lockdown 1, this was only the second time I have added fuel to its tank (not brimmed on either occasion), and it's done a whisker under 700 miles since the fateful 23rd March. It's due a service and MoT next month and I seriously wonder if I should do anything more than have the oil+filter changed

If it IS yours though, well worth thinking about getting rid. I would if it was me.

I'll need it if/when I get another job. It's the usual scenario of "If I knew what the future was going to bring, I'd make different plans".
Yes, I own it, I bought it outright at the end of the PCP in the middle of last year.... it had crossed my mind to hand it back at the end of the PCP but I don't think that any of us thought at that time that lockdown would return and last until the middle of 2021 (or maybe longer)

Another 'Who?' moment in Scottish Politics that applies to both Labour and the Tories (I only know who the LimpDem guy is because he's a local MP and is fairly high profile round here).
When the previous incumbent resigned I really couldn't picture him, same goes for the Tory equivalent.
Apart from Sturgeon, Salmond and that bloke Ruth Davidson the various party leaders have been instantly forgettable. I have heard of Anas Sarwar but only because of who his Dad is, and possibly who his brother (IF they're even related!) is.
