Why do you say that? I have wiped the phone and installed a new OS that doesn't incorporate Google Mobile Services. It has no Google apps on it at all. I have a portal to the Play Store that signs me in using an anonymous email address and spoofs my location at the same time. I use Firefox as the browser, which is one of the few available that aren't based on Chrome. I use web based email (Protonmail) and I have an app called NewPipe that is a YouTube portal so I can watch vids. You're going to announce soon that you are a Freeman on the Land, aren't you?

And so the forum’s own Liberace was born... Liberace in a back brace after moving that thing. Jesus they're heavy!. Last year, someone was towing one down the main road in the village, behind a Golf. Hanging on the the back of the piano, at a very brisk walk, was another person, keeping it in vaguely the right direction. I have no idea how far they were going but seeing a piano being towed down the street was a definite "well you don't see that every day" moment!

You may well be one of the very few lucky enough to have a visitor for Christmas. One of the advantages of living in a remote area, with a house obscured from view by hedging and trees, together with gates you hide many cars behind, is that nobody knows who's visiting.

Nice one Andy, It was rather a disappointing tournament all round. All looked rather easy for DJ. Get back to hard ground and impossible greens. At least without a crowd I didn't have to have my ears polluted with "GET IN THE HOLE" or "MASHED POTATO" at ever drive.

Easier to fit a tree in the car this year and we could get a 2m one. The only option was the Golf last year and we had to fold down 2/3rd of the rear seat, push the passenger seat right forward with the backrest vertical and Lindsay had to sit behind me which meant I had to sit closer to the wheel than normal.

Our tree went up yesterday which is the earliest ever (Susan just felt that putting the tree up lifted the spirits a bit after the shit year we have all had). However ours comes out of a box that I keep in the garage

Mrs Sacamano loves Christmas and, as this year has been so shitty, I relented and said she could have what she wants and we'd do all the decorations this weekend. So we now have 4 trees... A real one outside the front door, a very lifelike artificial one in the lounge, a pop up one in the family room, and a real one outside in the gazebo, all lit up with lights. I may have unleashed a monster. That little wheel on the electricity meter under the stairs is just a blur.

Got our tree delivered on 21st (stored in the garage, stood in a bucket of water) and then brought it in the house on 28th.
I love christmas trees, the smell is divine and I find sitting in the lounge with the room lights off, but the tree lights on extremely relaxing.
Christmas day itself is an anti climax of titanic proportions (and I am not a fan of all the present buying twattery)- but the build up during December is awesome and I'd have a christmas tree up all year round if I could.

I think that's because the build up lasts for far too long. When I was growing up, we decorated the house on Christmas Eve and took the decorations down on Twelfth night.

I jokingly said years ago that no Christmas decorations were allowed until after my birthday early in December and Mrs Tim has grudgingly stuck to that. However I said last week that she could put the tree up if she wanted (a colour changing fibre optic thing) and she said she'd stick to the usual routine!

Guy upstairs had his window decorations etc up since the end of October but he hurts nobody and it makes him happy so why not. Being on my tod most of the time, even when Sara was around means it is all a damp squib as far as I am concerned.

Christmas tree will be going up next Tuesday, the 8th, which is quite early for us but that's the only day we will be together before it starts to get too close to Christmas, like usual it will be a real tree and I should imagine it will be both me and the youngest (she's 21 now), who goes to get it, it's kind of a Christmas tradition that the both of us choose it.
Christmas will be weird this year as lunch will just be the 3 of us, usually we have others round but as we didn't know what the Covid rules were going to be, it was all tied up a month or so ago with our mothers going to their respective "bubbles" (my sister and Tina's brother) and my eldest spending it with her boyfriend who for once, isn't working, we are with them in the evening.
We toyed with eating out at our local (Chris knows it), but once you take into account a few drinks and a decent tip, you are looking at circa £350 for the 3 of us, no thanks, maybe another year!

I think out tree will go up later this week or early next week. Last year our cat was pretty young and she didn't bother with it. This year she is more athletic, so no decorations too low down near the floor. Luckily we have a very heavy metal tree holder.

If you mean the H&G, they tend to take the micky with Christmas lunch/dinner prices, plus we have always found the service to be pretty slow too. My brother, his wife and her mum usually go somewhere slightly further afield on Christmas day and spend a small fortune in doing so. They have asked my mum before but she declines as she has such a small appetite that she thinks it crazy to spend around £100 per head when she will only have a few spoonfulls/fork-fulls. For us - I really do not feel like celebrating or putting any decorations or a tree up this year, it's been such a crap 12 months that I will be glad to see the back of 2020. Younger daughter should come to stay with us for a few days, older daughter and the grandkids will almost certainly stay put with her partner, due to covid-requirements. It's February since I saw my grand-kids. Roll on Christmas 2021... to think, it's only 13 months since I had such an amazing time in Vancouver for an early 60th celebration :-(

It will be what we make it so I have decided to do something at least. There is nothing so dour as ourselves when we get in a fugue so Chris, challenge for you. Match me and do something to make an event of it. Sick of letting things bug me so I'm going for it. I'm thinking of putting a few lights in the window and getting a few small gifts for locals who will be stuck here, nothing grand but something of a secret Santa thing and I'll see how it goes. Mad? Quite possibly but what the bleedin' hell, I will only be here once.

I know a number of people who are starting earlier with tree and lights etc. and setting out to have a decent celebration this year as a conscious effort to create some positivity.

Lots of houses around us with decorations up already and why not, if there's ever a year to do what makes you happy, this is it.
Mrs Eff has bought some icicle lights so we will, for the first time ever, decorate our front garden. That will probably happen next weekend; the tree, baubles and tinsel will come out over the weekend of the 12th. We've started earlier since Little Eff started to understand what it was all about. Now, at four-and-a-half, she's hopping with excitement already.
