We're now into the 14th week of lockdown..... ? I'm not. Haven't been for 5 weeks now. I think the whole country's been coming out of lockdown for a good 5 or 6 weeks.

We are still told not to use public transport, cant visit museums, cant stay away from home in a hotel overnight, have to queue to get into shops etc etc. Elder daughter, as there is a shielding person in their house (her partner's mum), and her kids and partner are severely restricted. They can't go to work. Seems like lockdown to me, little or no freedom EDIT: A bit similar to this, with her elder daughter/our elder grand-daughter not able to return to school, although from what I gather, her school hasn't re-started classes for her age-group yet, but the entire household is effectively still under the original lockdown rules of trips out for food, medical purposes or emergencies only: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53134226

^ There's certainly a huge increase in the amount of traffic. The background roar of traffic on the M3 that I normally hear when home has returned.
On Saturday I headed south down the M3 and traffic levels were like many "normal" summer Saturdays with 3 lanes of nose-to-tail slowish moving traffic. However after about 10 miles the reason became clear - a white Yaris hybrid being driven at about 55mph by a middle-lane hogger ! Once past that mobile roadblock, the traffic was relatively freely running.
EDIT: And what happened on the roads yesterday? I went into work; there were signs on the M3 that the M40 was closed by a serious accident and checking the news in the evening, there was something nasty involving 2 trucks that resulted in closure for about 12 hours. Also on my way back early evening, as I approached junction 4 to leave there were signs warning of lane closures after the junction due to an accident, and a 40mph "temporary" limit was set, then as I got just round the corner from home there were emergency vehicles just off one exit to a roundabout and there was what looked like a Corsa parked (or rather perched) on top of the pedestrian railings designed to separate traffic from the pavement

Now we can shop pretty freely, play sports like golf and tennis, the football is back on the telly, we can travel to exercise and have days out. Museums aren't going anywhere and, for me, not having to travel and stay in hotels is a bonus. I suppose it depends if you're a glass half full or half empty kind of person (there is a third, an engineer, who will argue the glass was always the wrong size anyway).

There isn't any decision I can make, other than hope I find some decent paying job in the next few months. It'll be repossessed if that doesn't happen!

Fingers crossed for you, I've gone through tough times in the past with cars on finance and loss of job, but my dad was always there to help me out. I still miss him so much (and not just for his generosity)

The mighty Skoda passed its second MOT in my hands yesterday. 2 advisories; 1 saying 'Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge Offside Front' (well, I had a good look last night and I'll be double-damned if I can see it, and 'Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping NSF' Have to take their word for it - it certainly bounces well enough, so who knows?
Herself, when I told her; "You need to get a new tyres right away, and get it sorted!"
Sod OFF dear - unless you're going to pay for a front pair!!!

The Clean Liquor Co 'No. 10' low alcohol Clean Gin. Must be made from a 50/50 blend of dentist's mouthwash and lavatory cleaner. Going to pour a large Hendrick's to take away the taste.

I've seen some crap called Seedlip that is more expensive than real gin. Why the fuck would someone want to pay 26 quid for some flavoured water?

Littering - the behaviour of a person who deserves to be boiled. I have seen countless people recently, throw rubbish out of car windows, or as happened yesterday, a Mercedes C Class coupe was parked outside the office for a while and when they drove away there was a whole pile of rubbish from their recent visit to McDonalds. In the US, you can get fined $1,000 for throwing something out the window of a car and I think that should apply here too. If they are on benefits, just take £100 off them a month for a year. It's the only way we are going to change behaviour.

On my way home tonight I was 3rd in a queue at light among 10 other cars (and a van!) ALL of which were white!!!
Don't think I've ever experienced quite that level of colour bias before.

Quite a few vegans are probably going to have some serious self-questioning to do it seems.... A number of supermarkets have removed some coconut water and oil from their shelves after it emerged the products were made with fruit picked by monkeys. The monkeys are snatched from the wild and trained to pick up to 1,000 coconuts a day, www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53276071

^ Well, I would have thought that the health and safety brigade would be all for this monkey business - less risk of humans being injured in the course of carrying out their work, if you can get a trained animal to do it instead.
