I just spotted a bleepin' mosquito flying round my living room. Determined little minx.

It seems I've managed to trigger some animal rights activists by responding to what I believe is a fake news item a Facebook friend has shared about Vinnie Jones (dating back 2017). It has been an amusing 24 hours.
One of the local Facebook groups had a whinge from somebody walking on the fell who came across a perfectly legal trap complete with a dead stoat in it and it was upsetting for her children, shouldn't be allowed etc. Cue the usual misinformed hand wringing and outrage. The thread got shut down before too long, sadly.

I must confess to having been guilty of such once or twice myself, but I don't bother about much these days.

Totally agree, it is way too much hassle having a public argument where everything you say is twisted and taken out of context. It really isn't worth the grief. There are more than enough people who take the bait and make entertaining reading for a while leaving you feeling as though you are the only sane person on the planet.

There do appear to be a large number of keyboard warriors willing to get really cross over issues that 'ofend' them but they have not actual connection to, it is bizarre.
Equally weird are those who think the internet is personal to them, responses to Amazon product questions like 'sorry I don't know' what is the point of responding!!

We're gonna need a bigger barcode! Most Aldi products have large or lots of barcodes, its all to do with efficiency and speed when going through the checkouts, the more or larger the barcode, the less time spent by the checkout operative finding it.

I remember when a friend of mine was a young trainee manager for Kwik Save that they didn't price anything in the shop and the checkout operators had to learn and memorise the prices.

I find your inability to spell 'offend' to be deeply offensive and it has hurt my feelings and I'm now going to flounce off and shut down all my social media streams

I’m part of a trivia team in my local here in California. We call ourselves UN after the United Nations, because in our first week, we had an American, Kiwi and an Irishman in the team. We’ve since had about 12 different nationalities on the team- there’s no limit on the amount of players. We’ve been playing for about 18 months and usually finish in the top half of the table, mostly in the top 5, out of about 20+ teams most weeks.
This month, we won every game with the last one being on Monday. We were in 4th place going into the final round where you can wager up to 20 points. We were 8 points behind the leaders and the final question was to put the following Prime Ministers in order: Brown, Major, Blair and Cameron. I knew them and we wagered the full amount. Got the question right and ended up coming 2nd as the team in 1st place got it right too.
Felt like a massive loss, 3 wins and a 2nd place for the whole month was a good return.
Prizes are gift cards for the pub, so we’ve had a few cheap weeks drinking out of it!

Even Americans should be able to correctly answer a question that simple. I've only ever done one pub quiz in the States and was the only one in the place not looking up the answers on my phone and still came second!

I heard one complain that saying "The EU and Japan" was redundant as Japan was in the EU.

They're so insular. They regard something that happened in a different county to the one they live in as international news.

There’s a no phone rule which levels the playing field.
Occasionally there will be a question about Cricket or Rugby but the majority of the questions are American. Occasionally there’s a theme matching the date- on St. Patrick’s day, there are some Irish questions answered so on. We have people on the team that are really good at certain subjects- science, US Presidents, medical etc. the least helpful profession we’ve had is Lawyers!

Just got back from a session circuit training in the next village. I think I am going to hurt tomorrow. It should do me some good though - I need something to offset my beer intake as I have noticed I'm getting porky again due to the lack of physical work.
I've also started intervals on the elliptical in lieu of getting the lycra out of the wardrobe.

Fireworks, 'private' fireworks displays. Must be the third time this week and the yocals are chucking fireworks into the atmosphere. Spoil sport or not, I do wish these things were banned from sale to private citizens and ONLY for use in organised displays. I understand people like them but they are an extravagance we do not need and cannot afford.

I always liked buying my own fireworks and having my own display but that was once a year. Now we have fireworks on Diwali, 31st Oct, the days leading up to the 5th, the 5th itself, and New Year, so it can get a bit wearing if you you have pets who don't like them.

There is also the cost to the nhs which ain't going down and the misery of those left with sometimes horrific injuries. Better all round to take them off general sale. Just about every birthday round here has fireworks. My angry ol' git moments.

I'm trying to keep my iPhone 6 going but it feels like its days are numbered. I really don't want to have to spend a fortune to get the next iPhone. It turns out the 6 I had is no longer supported so I've now got an 11. £24 a month, £380 up front for the 128GB which I think is a massive bargain.

For support reasons I went from a 5S to an 11 and your use of the the word massive seems appropriate! Oddly though when I switched my 5 on last week it said there was an OS update waiting. Fortunately I got the 11 as a work phone so there's been no cost to me.....

Louisa has a 5S and hers got the new update. I suspect it's because it's quite a late model phone.

On the shelves in one of the shops selling souvenirs in Vancouver, there was a selection of jigsaw puzzles.
I'm very pleased to report that the one of the Fiat 500 was a 500-piece puzzle !
