BMW do that too. I'm sure I've seen them with blanked off tailpipes. I’m pretty sure you’re seeing the valve (closed) in the exhaust rather than it being blanked off.

Nothing quite prepares you for your first sight of the V&A in Dundee...... ... or what a complete disappointment it is inside (IMHO). Nothing like a small version of the London V&A, it appears to be mainly a large airy space with a gift shop and cafeteria, a few minor exhibits, a room/gallery for Scottish Design over the years, and one other random exhibit - in this case a Jaguar styled by the Scot, Ian McCallum

Elder daughter and the grandkids are back for a week before the schools re-start. The ex-mum V70 is now approaching 37000 miles meaning that it's done around 9000 since mid February, or more in the past 6 months than in the previous 6 years
EDIT: From what I saw last week-end, the Scottish countryside is now blighted by wind farms... turbines all over the place. I suppose that it's progress but it sure spoils the views

Some bits have some turbines but they're not exactly extensive!
I climbed (well, struggled up...) Ben Lawers at the weekend, apparently it's the 10th highest Munro. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the top and a fellow climber fished a ukelele out of his backpack and sang a song.

Random fact of the day: the replacement fan belt for a Standard Big 9 is exactly the same size as for a 1920s Bentley 6.5 litre.

Just a heads up; if you get your missus pregnant this week you can have two weeks paternity leave next year while Euro 2020 is on. Just a thought.

Last day of The Oil and Gas show in Aberdeen. I may never drink again.. I have a couple of friends who are there and even if they have consumed enough to kill your average person, they will still be at it after the show! I've got a weekends sailing with them in a couple of weeks!!!!

This morning the queue on the "smart" M3 motorway to leave at jct 4 heading northbound was all the way back to jct4a, by the looks of it (I was heading the other way) making life difficult for those wishing to join at 4a, and for anyone already on the motorway who wanted to leave at 4a, no doubt very difficult to get across into the inside lane which becomes the sliproad (this lane having stared as the "on" sliproad at 4a

Roadchef are looking at rebuilding Watford Gap services on the M1. Not before time. But sometimes the best bits of the press are the comments below an article.
The article in the DT online says "
Mr Fox [Roadchef CEO] said: “Motorists have rated us the highest of the big three motorway service area operators [Roadchef, Moto, Welcome Break], both in terms of customer satisfaction and the impression they have when entering a service area."
To which one wag commented: "Which is a bit like comparing listeria, E coli and norovirus."

I can see hours of drunken discussion in the pub: "If you had to have one, which would you prefer: listeria, E coli or norovirus?"
