Talking of such things, if shiny cars are more aerodynamic why are F1 cars all done in matt eggshell nowadays? Weight. It saves a few hundred grams per car. Wouldn't it just be easier to ask the drivers to take a piss before they head out on track?

This was discussed when we had that Williams F1 visit - it's also slightly less draggy - though we're talking a very small difference. The main reason for matt paint is so the sponsors' logos show up well during floodlit night races.

Spent a few hours this morning with sculptor Sir Antony Gormley (we're doing some stuff for his biggest ever show in London later this year) as he toured our factory, rallying the troops. It's in the Royal Academy of Arts and it was quite fascinating to have him explain his vision for the pieces. I feel a trip down to London is in order. I might even become a bit of a luvvie.

I don't go in there very often so maybe they're trying to get me to go back and spend some more money in there?

I went in there most days before I changed jobs, as it was on my way to work. Now it isn't.

We mostly shop at Tesco and if we do go to Sainsbury's we often forget the nectar card, which is fine because nectar points are pretty rubbish these days.

New addition to household; 8 week old Working Cocker Spaniel puppy, Jasper (or Kenynten Peanut Butter to give him his Sunday name) It's been a three years since we lost our Springer - no-idea why we waited so long - he's a lot of fun. 5 months old now - just going through teething.

I think once you've had dogs, a house without is not a home. Without a doubt, we couldn't be without him now. We're very lucky, he doesn't bark, is happy to be left in the house alone (we have a camera so we can monitor him), but also loves a car ride and will come with us whenever we can take him. It's his first dog show this weekend and he'll be starting gundog training soon. I didn't have any difficulty uploading the pics.

Handsome boy. Our inlaws (as in sis & bruv) have recently got a black Schnauzer pup. As our dog is soon to be 11 I'd forgotten what fun they were. Can't wait to get another, but have to wait because this little toerag is the jealous type and takes an instant dislike to any pups we meet on a walk.
Anyhow, back to my reason for visiting; I just looked at my Netflix account to see when it will change to normal HD, as I'm still getting 4K and noticed this section called recent activity. This basically breaks down your account into the devices used and where and when they were used. There was a weird one that said I watched Netflix on my phone in somewhere called Knowsley. This turns out to be in Merseyside, somewhere I've never been, nor have any desire to. Must be a glitch in the Matrix.

I changed my password - which then caused hassle as my mother and mother-in-law use my account and I had to go round and put the new password in for them. Checking Netflix it's still showing Dumfries & Galloway, a smart TV somewhere in Cumbria, and a streaming stick in Hounslow. No idea what's going on.

Not very good if they're mixing up people's account details.

I ordered wiper blades from Amazon and the box was about twice the size of that, completely ridiculous.

I do wonder what the enviromental impact of internet shopping is v the old fashioned ways and when somebody might raise it. Buy on line = packaging (a lot of which is single use plastic like bubbble wrap), van miles etc.
Our recycling is two major things - plastic that food stuffs come in and boxes that all the internet stuff we order comes in (the bubble wrap has to go in the bin).

If it’s air bags rather than bubble wrap (much bigger air pockets, filled by machine at pint of packing), as the stuff we used to use for Amazon was recyclable. They made us move to paper as the public perceives it to be more environmentally friendly but you need a lot more volume vs air bags

We should make more use of these items. There was a program to produce playground mats some years ago but not heard anything of that for a while.

It's quite widespread I think now. I was disappointed at the widespread coverage of the Hyundai (?) that came out last week with solar roof panels. Its something that should've been getting done for years and the coverage should actually be questioning why its taken so long. Similarly I saw a programme ages ago about photovoltaic mat that was flexible and could be sewn onto things like baseball caps or rucksacks to provide a charge for personal devices. Where is that?

Our recycling bin states on the lid cardboard and plastic bottles only but we put everything in it and it always gets emptied. Let them sort it out at the other end, I say.

You'd need exactly the same recycling facilities in every region for that - otherwise you'd end up transporting a lot of materials up and down the country, negating the benefit.

We already transport a lot of them overseas so I doubt it would matter.
