That’s daily depreciation you don’t want to be any part of! It's fallen from £80K to £73K in about 9 weeks. A lot of them fell between £2K and £4K about the beginning of the month and there now seems to be another raft of £1K reductions. How far can the prices fall and how fast? It does feel like a roller coaster I'm not sure I want to get on at the moment. Don't roller coasters go up sometimes?!

But I think Newton's law trumps that, especially when a large lump of metal is involved.

Just watched a top gear you tube video where they race the m5 comp vs nsx vs e63s. The m5 won ..0-60 in 3.0. ,0-100 in 6.8
Absolutely ridiculously fast .

That's taking things a bit far ! Looks like I will now finally be going to Malaysia in May to sort out the last of my late father's stuff. No M5 on the hire car list there, I'll try to get something local like a Proton Persona

For the once in a lifetime, special car purchase either of those look unbeatable.

The green one was a press car, so I would not be that keen on it.

The green one is lush but I've just seen it thrashed far to many times to want to own it.

Really interesting John. Sounds like it improves on the two areas that made the E63S the wrong car for me, comfort and refinement. I wonder if that level of performance could be a bit frustrating, I don’t have enough opportunity to use all of mine, but I’m sure it’s great to have it when you do get the chance. When do you get yours? Next Friday! No B&W but comfort and premium pack with competition exhaust and the MDriver pack which gives me a day at Silverstone. Shame about the B&W but deal was too good! Brand new for less than used.

It's Marina Bay Blue with the upgraded smoked white leather - it won't be the easiest to keep clean but I will put a stain guard on it and just do it every few months!
I will have a 500 mile trip home so a good bit of the running in will be taken care of with a nice warm engine.

Will this be the fastest-accelerating car that the forum has had as a member? Autocar got 60 in 3.3, 100 in 7.5, 30-70 in 2.7s...

Blimey good for you. 500 miles? Where are you getting it from, Cornwall? Barons in Bedford. I think I said no about 4 times during the week to various cars and this came up at the last minute - they really wanted me to take a Singapore Grey one but my wife didn't like the colour and this purchase has required a lot of her goodwill, so I was happy to hold out for the colour she liked best. They had a car in Macau Blue which would have been my choice but it was £10K more expensive and that might only equate to about £1,000 difference 4 years down the line so even more financial suicide than I have embarked on.

That's probably only about 350 miles so you might just about get it home on 1 tankful Just make sure you don't refuel it at any of the motorway services, the prices are horrific.

I was also talking to Dick Lovett BMW in Bath and have been for a couple of months ago since I missed a really nice car they had by hours. They have impressed me big time - the salesman took details of what I wanted, colours, extras etc and he has contacted me 3 or 4 times over that time with different suggestions and just to find out how I was doing. He couldn't get me the right car at the right price but full marks for effort.
He even pointed out a car that Vines BMW have which is mega spec with carbon ceramics but I was nervous buying something which could carry a £6K or £7K bill for replacing the front brakes. In addition I was concerned about how it might have been treated over its 3,500 miles because anyone who specs CC brakes tends to be tracking it. After a bit of checking, I discovered it was purchased originally from Sytner Haverfordwest which is only a few miles from Pembrey race circuit - perhaps I am adding 2 and 2 to get 5 but it would always have been a doubt.
Given the number of dealers I have spoken to who haven't bothered to take details or get back to me, the good ones stand out.
