Apologies first for not consulting the forum on a change of car, but with the Mini at 12 years old and Mrs L wishing to have 4 doors with the increasing number of grandchildren she seems to be constantly ferrying, there was really only one option. I would have chosen a 3 door and the 5 door hatch looks awful so that was completely off the table, so we got this - it's bloody huge! and very wide for a Mini.
So loaded with options there's more FG than there is actual car! - quite fun in a way as it's got loads of stuff that we would never spec ourselves - when it was new it was thirty fucking seven grand!! - Who on earth specs a Mini to thirty seven grand other than someone in Mini Management who 'owned' it when new. Needless to say it has depreciated like a rock and we paid just a couple of hundred more than a pretty bog standard Cooper S would be - despite the efforts of the seller (not the original owner) to try and achieve more than a £2500 premium.
Love the colour of the seats (wine red) which is no longer available and there are all the little touches that only Mini seem to do, such as a subtle texture which lights up on the door trims at night.
The drive is fantastic, much better than I imagined it would be - finally with the F series of Minis, the Coooper S has the performance to live up to the way the car looks which is nice as it will be able to share long journeys and make life a little easier on the Scirocco.
Not keen on the bonnet stripes so we'll look at how possible it is to remove them - they're just a bit of vinyl.
(Had to add the photo to the next post for some reason)

Can’t see a picture so assuming it’s a Clubman. Congratulations, I like the sound of the colour.

Looks good. Has it got a head-up display?

Looks good. Has it got a head-up display? Yes, it projects into a screen that drops down into the hole on the dash. Not the most elegant solution but I’m a big fan of a HUD. To answer a (rhetorical, I know) question in the OP, I’d easily get a MINI to £37k! Edit: Had to check, £37.5k with the options I’d want

Looks great. Hopefully, after 15+ years people will have got over the fact MINIs today are bigger than the original ones.

I really like the look of these and a copper S must go well. My mate has the 1.5 and it needs a bit more poke. Only thing I don’t get on with is the harsh ride.
Especially like your colour combo

Nice looking car. The title made me think you had got rid of a nice charming classic for a shit one!

Nice one! Now you have all that FG on board you are never going to be able to go back to basics.

I just can't get on with the look of most MINIS. An early Cooper s could just about get my interest but definitely nothing from the later line up. That said, I like your choice of colours, which looks lovely, especially the seat colour against the grey and black.
I hope you enjoy!

I really like the look of these and a copper S must go well. Special edition for those who work in the Police Force?? Does Stu know ? It's not a very space-efficient car, I was contemplating one as an upgrade from the Ka in 2016, but it was just too big as a "city" car; the Fiesta is almost as big (except for the boot) but is much shorter and narrower, critical issues for me

Looks good. Has it got a head-up display? Yes - not sure about it yet - perhaps it will grow on me - I can see it being very useful when using the sat nav though

It's not a very space-efficient car I'd agree with that, but for us, it feels like a limo in the back (where I sat for the test drive). As with all Minis, you don't buy them for space efficiency - it looks huge sitting alongside our R56 Cooper.

Nice one! Now you have all that FG on board you are never going to be able to go back to basics. It's going to be very interesting to see how much we will actually use - a lot of it seems just like 'fun' things such as being able to check the oil level without using the dipstick for instance but hardly something you really need.

Looks good, I don't hate the bonnet stripes from that angle, though as they are not against the edge of the bonnet they might not look so good close up?
The rear lights have always troubled me on the recent Clubman though.
Does it have the glass roof?
(and it isn't a diesel!)

yep a double sunroof and yes we've still managed to avoid ownership of a diesel car! - never had one and likely never will.

Very nice! Metallic grey paint with wine red seats is an effortlessly classy combination.
I can't get past the suspicion that Clubmans (Clubmen?) look a bit like some sort of bottom-dwelling angler fish at the front and like some kind of weird Pokémon at the back, but overall I can get past that, particularly since having had the use of a normal Cooper for two weeks over the summer which I completely loved in terms of drive, feel and quality.

Well I'm a convert to heated seats after this weekend!
The 'old' Mini is now up for sale if anyone knows of someone it would suit. Just advertised on local Facebook selling sites for the moment to see if we get any bites from ads that are free. I can't help thinking that the run up to Christmas is not a good week to try and sell a car, so don't want to pay for any advertising just yet.
It's a Dec 2006 build and registration, 72,000 miles - duly pampered of course and asking price is £2390 - free two nights accommodation in a sea front holiday flat thrown in if the buyer is from away (with a commitment to buy of course - not giving holidays away!).
Pics in next post - I forget I have to use a different browser to upload photos for some reason.

That looks fantastic. I'm tempted to buy it, even though I don't need it, just because I'd be gutted at someone else getting such a bargain.
