It's an acquired taste. I think I'd like it more if the steering wheel was black.

The steering wheel does it no favours but I think the blue leather could work, especially when the roof is down. It wouldn't be my first choice though.

I’m not keen, but could possibly live with it as it’s the extra nice leather, but the steering wheel is a definite no, ruins the whole interior imho.

Leather is a difficult colour to judge from photographs but I'd have to change the steering wheel whatever.

Yes, the steering wheel is horrid.
I had a navy blue (cloth) interior with a navy blue dashboard on an A3 many years and rather liked it, but I think this looks perhaps a bit too intense.

It almost matches the background colour of the dials... apart from that, well it's better than black

I am having one of my periodic bouts of Alpina-lust. I'm going through one of those. The new B3 Touring is very much doing it for me but the small matter of the cost is putting me off.
The blue leather is a bit much but it's what the buyer thinks that matters. As your 135 demonstrated, colours can be changed.

I looked at using them to get mine changed on the D3. They do come highly recommend but I recall they were hopeless at replying to emails. The problem isn’t the covering of the wheel, though, it’s the wheel. Alpina insists on using the SE wheel.

Never been a huge fan of the Alpina Z4 - don't care for the way the Alpina bits sit with the design. Would rather have a Z4M - prettier and a more awesome engine.

I guess it's all part of Alpina's desire to differentiate themselves from the ubiquitous MSports.

I believe it's because they take the basic car off the the production line and then work their magic but they also put buttons on the back of the wheel to change gear and it may be the SE wheel doesn't have paddles allowing them to do this. These days there certainly is something in standing out from the MSport lot, though. I think the only time they've used the MSport bodykit was on the X3 model they did.

Yes, although there is almost no BMW (apart from perhaps the very latest models) that looks better with SE bumpers than MSport ones, and they often look worse (and the B4 is a case in point), which is one of my few bugbears with them.

I'd agree but with the Alpina bit's they transform them to my eyes. The new B3 is particularly successful.

Buttons on the back of the steering wheel? I can remember some cars having them about 20 years ago but surely they've been superseded by paddles now?

Bizarrely not. Mind you, I virtually never use the paddles in my car, so it might be a moot point.

I think paddles are an option on the latest Alpina models?
I use paddles quite often on both cars.
The buttons are one of a few 80s features in an Alpina!

Another down vote for the blue wheel, but also the blue lower dash. I think that needs to be black as well.
I seem to remember reading something about one of the Alpina family hating paddles, hence the buttons.

One of the things putting me off looking at 4 series GCs is that the ones with my preferred red leather also have a red lower dash and it's not a good look.

But interestingly if you could find one with red leather but the leather dashboard, this car suggests it would come with a black (leather) lower dash:

No idea. But they don't come cheap if you look around, particularly by comparison to a 435i/440i coupe of similar vintage and mileage.
For me it's short a sunroof and it's not the S version, but other than that it looks very nice. They've also had it a while, so I'm sure are open to a haggle.
