Those exhausts would annoy me every time I looked at it.

I’d feel like a retired New Yorker in Florida on my way to the golf club. I could aspire to that kind of life especially given the amount of money the retired New Yorkers in Florida seem to have!

Two problems: you'd have had to have been a vile New Yorker for some period of time and the average age in FLA, according to my late stepfather, is "deceased".

Definitely a left field choice of performance car. So much about those is desirable and yet so much also says Toyota "Lego" parts bin at the same time. There's definitely no Toyota parts visible in the IS. I enjoyed my IS and I'm often quite tempted by one of these as the prices are reasonable and it won't bite you in the arse reliabiltywise like a BMW/Audi/Merc.

I'm not sure of the Toyota parts bin likelihood of the IS-F but as has been established in other threads the M4 needs upgraded bits inside - on top of the £60k list price - to not look like a boggo 318 so Lexus are hardly alone in this kind of issue.

Was the IS badged as a Toyota in some markets? If so, unless they changed parts for the UK market, they’re all Toyota parts! Does it have the awful digital clock? That’s been in Toyotas for decades, the Auris rental car I had a few weeks ago had one.

They still have the digital clock though - no idea what's going on there - I reckon the buyer must have signed an order for 50,000,000 back in 1996, thinking it was for 5,000,000. I do remember reading somewhere that whatever the acceptable defect level for Toyota parts is (and it is very low), any parts used on Lexus vehicles must better this by a factor of 10.

Yes, I’m thinking about the previous IS, which was a Toyota in Japan.

Yes, I’m thinking about the previous IS, which was a Toyota in Japan. Yes, the first IS was sold as the Toyota Altezza in Japan as the Lexus brand hadn't been introduced to the home market at that time. Still a nice looking car actually. The LS400 was called the Toyota Celsior over there IIRC.

I think the green digital clock in all Toyotas and Lexii is almost an infra-dig in-joke now. It's almost gone full circle and is cool again. After all, aren't hipsters wearing digital watches again?

My father was a Fleet Air Arm pilot and then later one of the trustees of the Fly Navy Heritage Trust (funds the RN Historic Flight) for years and I seem to recall him saying once that the Sea Vampire was not a plane he rated particularly highly.

Agreed. Barney and his father Tony sold me my first Z1 when they still ran Munich Legends. Tony used to do something like producing films for Monty Python IIRC and it was a pricelessly entertaining test drive.

Saw an ad for a VW Tiguan the other day. Car looked immaculate, no damage, low mileage, very low price, not a car I’d buy but I kept reading. (They’ve since dropped the price)
I’ve pasted the ad below..
2010 VW Tiguan condition: fair fuel: gas odometer: 70000 paint color: black size: full-size title status: clean transmission: automatic
This has been a great car for me! Minimal wear and tear. One quarter size dent be passenger door. New tires. Everything electrical in excellent working condition. Aux, Radio, CD, Heat & Aircon. 2010 with only 70,000 miles. Has lots life left if repaired.
But I can no longer afford VW maintenance. There are some serious problems internally. It could need a new engine entirely. Potential problems : Burnt Valve Jumped Timing Head Gasket Failure Collapsed Piston Rings Broken timing Chain Broken Valves
KKB at "Excellent" valued this vehicle at $8,000. I'm looking for $4000 OBO send me a message for more info or photos!

Maybe if it was a bit more interesting than a run of the mill VW...

He has described the condition as excellent yet admitted treating the vehicle so badly as to destroy the engine, what is so excellent in that?

Mike,
It’s for sale in California so the only important thing is how it looks. An immaculate body more than makes up for a dead and buried engine...

The garage I worked for sold one of those for less than £35k in 2014! I'm sure it had a lower mileage too.

Ron Noads, he that used to own Crystal Palace FC had one of these new.
Has that put you off it yet?

The guy that owned the garage had bought one brand new in a previous career as the owner of a car transporting business. I wonder how much the depreciation was on those?
