I've driven it, and my biggest issue is the gearbox, which Renault says is a 'dog-clutch gearbox'. In practice it felt as clunky as a badly-sorted dual-clutch, while also weirdly feeling as whiny as a CVT. The Talisman does look pretty neat though. The drive train in normal operation is fine, however when pushing on a bit and then needing to make a bit of a sudden stop or slow down, it does have moments, a few times I've been caught out and wondered if I was gong to actually stop as the momentum of the car told me otherwise and it wasn't due to a lack of braking, a "normal" ICE car wouldn't have given me the same bum clenching moment, in a similar situation, its like the gearbox, engine and electric motor weren't sure what to do. As for the "dog clutch gearbox", TBH I'm not sure what that actually means or how it affects the general driving for the positive or negative.

Meanwhile, we get the Arkana, which is...well, I don't know what the fuck that's meant to be. Looks like a French interpretation of an X4. It is a French X4, and it is an absolute pile of crap. I think that description is a tad harsh Ben, must admit I don't get it, it also looks awful from the rear, it needs an electric tailgate, however it is nicely appointed inside, drives OK and actually sells really well. I think it is a stop gap until the Austral arrives at somepoint next year, I believe it was already available in other markets so it was re jigged relatively cheaply for Western Europe, it does already look dated against the latest Sportage for example but then it is based on the Captur which is 2 years old now

Driving home from work on the A3, earlier today, I hear something......what's that noise, it sounds pretty interesting.
Ahead of me I see a few normal mundane cars, the odd van and then I hear that noise again, "what is it, where is it? " I say to myself!
Then I spot something ahead, not sure what it is, I put my foot down (in the ZOE lol, which is limited to 86!), I get closer, the noise gets greater, fuck me it's a Porsche Carerra GT I've never seen one before, it looked absolutely fucking amazing and sounded even better and the driver wasn't even pushing on, I'm still excited now, I've finally seen and also heard one in real life!

I reckon they would do better at Le Mans and the series myself, being 'sports car' type oriented but then the whole thing is a showcase for Stroll junior. What will happen when he leaves cannot even guess. I'm sure I read somewhere not too long ago, maybe last year, that Lance was never massively interested in motorsport, always preferring ice hockey, it's all been pushed by his dad's interest in it.

He's probably glad to not be there, the car is a dog.
As an aside, I was listening to a podcast the other day, someone put the point across that it is thought that part of Aston's problems is a certain Mr. Stroll, he insists on being involved directly with everything, pushing his ideas etc, not just letting the experts that he has employed, get on with it.

I actually cheered when Verstappen retired, cannot stand the wide mouthed fucker, then Perez went, gutted for him but overall pleased for Red Bull, lol, not sure what the issue is I am hearing different things but possibly ran out of fuel or a fuel pump issue.
I put an EW bet on Sainz winning and also a bet on Hamilton getting a podium, ok was only £10 in total but I won just over £30, happy days.
Happy for Ferrari and LeClerc, Mercedes have a bit of work to do, WTF is going on with McLaren, happy for Haas and K-Mag, I can see him wiping the floor with Schumacher.
It appears that the cars can now follow each other far better than previous, not sure on the design though, they do look a bit "Hot Wheels", however it looks like we are set for a goods season.

I for one am relieved I got my fence professionally replaced 3 weeks ago, the current one was a mess as a result of Storm Dennis in Feb 2020, at the time I asked for quotes and was told that no one could come out for 2-3 months to just quote as they were so busy as a result of the wind and then from that point a 2-3 month lead time, then Covid hit and it went on the back burner with me constantly just patching it up.
Had it replaced recently, I'm pretty sure that what was left would have been decimated by the recent storm and then of course with all the other fences down in the area I would be looking at a similar scenario to early 2020, except the fence definitely wouldn't have been salvageable.

My left thumb on the top left kind of goes down straight from the top centre line of the tumb as opposed to being rounded like the normal shape of a thumb, as I've sliced it so many times, usually whilst preparing food.

Oh well I managed to avoid it up to now, started to feel a bit off from Saturday evening but I kind of put that down to being tired, as work has been mental, Sunday morning feeling a tad off but not enough to not do bootcamp, rest of the day not feeling 100% but not bad enough to not do my usual long dog walk and Sunday stuff.
As my youngest was positive and I wasn't feeling 100% I decided to do the weekly shop on Sunday as opposed to my normal Tuesday day off, just in case!
Felt not great on Monday at work but a negative test, today is my normal day off so not in work...... tested positive this morning.
Awful sleep last night, I'm coldy, bunged up, ache like fuck all over and I'm struggling to get warm, thankfully (so far) no real cough to speak of, my daughter has had an awful cough.
So far the wife is negative but she is starting to show similar symptoms that I had, prior to me testing positive so she'll be next, her boss came home last night feeling similar to myself.

I think I’ve only ever seen 2 of these in Ireland. The other one was around the time they were first launched. Launched in 2007, 15 years ago this year, they still look bloody fantastic and have aged very well.

Well it has finally hit us, my youngest had a positive test yesterday, she had been feeling grim for the past few days and had been testing as someone she works closely with had a positive PCR last week.
I've not been feeling great since Saturday evening, coldy and aching, but currently I've had 2 negative tests, but will continue testing for the next few days at least, the wife is feeling fine but is still testing.

Drove my daughter and her friend to town a couple of weeks ago, whilst at the restaurant table her friend received the dreaded e-mail from her PCR result (she tests daily for her job), she was positive.
Neither my daughter or myself have picked it up from her.
As mentioned my manager had it over Christmas then a couple of mechanics went down with it a week later, since then no one else at work has had it.

I’m confused. I always thought if you were a pedestrian crossing a minor road then cars turning off the major road into it had to give way. In fact I’ve always done this and car drivers have never run me over. Looking at the changes it appears to relate to crossings as well as “starting or waiting to cross” in my example - the rule has changed from “already crossing”. One of my favourite games of zebra crossings in London as a teenager was to cross and watch the cars slamming their brakes on. Far more concerning will be the abuse of the “hierarchy of road users” by those cyclists that have no intent of being responsible for their own safety already! In my experience when out on my daily dog walk before work, I would say most drivers aren't aware that they are actually supposed to give way to a pedestrian already crossing over, given the speed that they approach and take a minor road turning, that I am waiting at, as there is no chance that they would be able to stop and not hit me if I decided to just carry on walking across. I always look over my shoulder to check to see if there is an approaching car, if there is I always stop and wait for them to turn in, however it is amazing the amount of pedestrians who just stroll on over, without so much as a glance back to see if there is a car coming, when out driving I am always alert to pedestrians approaching a crossing of a road that I want to turn into, particularly if they are on their phone or have headphones/ear pods in/on as I know they just won't even so much as glance back to check.

Well it took almost 2 years but we've had the first confirmed case of Covid at work; my sales manager, he reckons he picked it up from a friend he spent time with over Christmas who had confirmation she had it, on Boxing day.
One of the wife's friends has tested positive too over the Christmas period , probably only a matter of time until it becomes common amongst us and work, we've done well though as no cases at work and no cases with close and even not so close friends until now.

Merry Christmas all.
Dog walk this morning then off to the eldest's for the rest of the day, her Exec Head Chef partner isn't working so he's cooking and he's bloody good, looking forward to the beef Wellington. Nice not to host for once.
Boxing day we are at my sisters in the afternoon, haven't seen them or my mum, who'll be there, for months, plenty of times we've arranged things but them all catching the covids at different times each scuppered any plans.
Enjoy yourselves everyone.
