That twitter story is brilliant and shows how much Moore knew his success was only because of the fans who went to the films and bought his movies. So many celebrities forget where they came from and that the little man in the street is the one who ultimately pays their wages. I was too young to have seen his bond films when they came out but saw them when they were repeated of a Sunday afternoon, usually around Christmas or Easter. For me the name James Bond brings images of Pierce Brosnen but there's no doubt Moore's Bond is probably the better remembered by a wider audience. Same sentiments here.

The thing is, Geely left Volvo alone because it was already pretty well run. Proton (and by extension Lotus) aren't exactly in the same shape so I think they need a bit more help.
I hope this turns out well though.

We've already had Nicky Hayden gone, then a terrorist attack, and now Roger Moore. And it's only Tuesday.

I've driven one briefly. It was the most underpowered car I've driven since the Chevrolet Spark, which is one of these: I suppose it's really meant to be a very basic car for less developed countries.

200bhp is as much as what the Mk6 Golf GTI had. I don't think that's appropriate for a car this size.
Besides it's not about the numbers. It's about how it feels when driving.

It is so black I can hardly see it at all. I thought the same. Black car on black background. Clever.

I will admit I only knew about him through you Blarno but I've come to appreciate his work and talent later on.
Real sad news and completely unexpected. RIP.

Bummer. I was away so missed the predictions.
Managed to watch the race though, and seemed fairly interesting.

Yeah. It's probably more of an S-Class Coupe rival.

I stopped reading car mags of any description about three years ago. And bike mags. I am an informational vacuum. This. Car mags exist in a strange continuum where they're either deathly dull (Auto Express/Autocar), driving god Queef wheelsmith tomes (Evo) or wannabe middle class gentleman's rags a la GQ (Car). I've always held the view that journos are nothing more than paid opinion-givers. Their opinion is no more worthy than yours or mine, they're just possibly better and putting it into print. I generally don't read magazines of any sort now because all journos are cut from the same cloth, IMO. As 'one of them' I guess I should weigh in... You're broadly right that car writing (I hasten to call test drives 'journalism'. That's for news) swings wildly between two camps. The 'factual' ones like What Car (and actually most mags) are aimed at most car buyers who know squat about cars, so they basically need everything spelled out and dumbed down for them. It can be dull for enthusiasts to read but we're not really their main audience. Fancier rags like Evo and Top Gear and etc are more about the visual splendour of nice pictures and fancy writing. They're aimed at pretentious people who see their cars as complements to their expensive watches and yachts and what not. Sometimes they drive their cars but most of the time it's more likely parked at a mansion somewhere around the world. There's very little for middling enthusiasts for us, who care a bit more about cars but are not snooty folks. We are a minority and insignificant lot sadly.

That looks nice. I think the 122bhp engine suits it well. The more powerful 185bhp version feels a bit much for this size of car IMO.

I've never driven a Mk1 or Mk2 Focus but I've heard good things about it. I have driven a Mk3 however and found it a bit 'meh'.

The hope is that with two teams running their engines there is more data to be gleaned for Honda to improve upon. I mean, they can't be hopeless forever. I'm sure eventually they will come good.

I am of the view that her ban was somewhat harsh, and that if the drugs weren't definitely proven to be performance-enhancing then it should be OK.

10 years was a good run for the old place, but here's to us being here for many more years ahead.

That places us under no obligation to like his work, surely? Well no, but I'd like to think that I would be happy for 'one of us' to go on and be reasonably successful in a chosen dream career. Much like how I'm extremely happy for Blarno to be now working for BAC.

Harsh! He used to be one of us you know... Did he? Was that on the original Autocar forum or Matts forum? Both. He was on Matt's forum only briefly though.

Exactly how I like to adjust the seat too - how people can drive with the seat in any car at the top or even in the top half of the seat height adjustment is beyond me - it just feels wrong. The only of this type of car I've ever driven was the Dacia (Duster?) and the seat in that was surprisingly low and the drive was a surprisingly agreeable experience for the short distance I drive it bar all the controls being overlight - but still not the kind of car for me. For me I'd like to at least be able to see some of the bonnet in order to better get a feel of the car's size and dimensions. Nowadays with so many cars having curved sloping bonnets it's getting harder to judge the car's front edges without putting your seat way up.

Looks better than the Mokka to my eyes. The contents of my toilet after a Guinness binge looks better than a Mokka. That is fair.
