I think this is generic everywhere. My new pc will not start so I report it and they (Chillblast) refer me to their ontite repair agents (Mendit). They tell me I have to agree to a £250 software reinstall charge or they will not procede. What is the first repair go to? Software reinstall so my free warranty becomes £250 every time something goes pear shaped. If they have a father, they do not know his name. Go back to Chillblast as your contract is with them. Also, check out their Vulnerable Customer Policy and complaints escalation procedure.

Unexpected today, but ended up working from home. My son fell off his bike on the way to school and hit his head. His art folder got tangled up in his bike and he fell off. Anyway, his head is ok, but it looks like he’s sprained/injured his left hand. So I had to pick him up- his sister is bringing the bike home. Work was quiet so I’m catching up on stuff that I’ve been ignoring… and I’ve noticed that the chair I bought for the home office isn’t terribly comfortable, probably a 90 minute chair at best. The bike is ok. His head is ok… Hopes he's soon back in the saddle. I remember my trousers used to get caught in the chain and gears and bring me to a sudden skidding stop, that happened a few times and I never learned from it. I never injured myself though. I'd still love to ride a bike again It’s incidents like that which stopped me wearing trousers. Hope your lad is OK, Rodge.

I like the Stinger but I think I’d grow tired of forever explaining to people what it was.

We had a wonderful holiday staying in a converted windmill in the hills of Lefkada, and another holiday in a villa on the island of Meganissi off the coast. Awesome, was thinking of Meganissi or Ithaca next year as fancy a quiet island. This is the windmill we stayed in; anemomilosvilla.gr/Meganissi is really quiet, there was only one taxi on the island, ran by a guy called George (of course), who also ran a small taverna.

My favorite place in the world are the Greek islands. Just come back from 2 weeks in Lefkada which was spectacular although a lot busier but I don't mind that as the only Brits that tend to go are the yachties and they're at sea for the week. The standard of driving of way too many people is generally awful. Leaving aside the 40mph squad, the other ones that get me are those who cannot, or refuse to, reverse. I'm on a country lane, I'm towing a livestock trailer and yet they look at me as if I should be the one to reverse. Of even without the trailer, it's 20 yards back to the nearest passing place behind then and 200 yards behind me, but again, they won't reverse. Or of they do try and reverse they just seem to veer off wildly into the hedge, boncing off each side of the road in turn. It is so painful and hilarious at the same time. Such instances always prompt my mother to recall a long-deceased family friend who lived up in the wilds of Dartmoor near her grandparents. Apparently, upon meeting oncoming traffic on the narrow lanes that hadn’t already recognised the car and taken avoiding action, this woman would simply wind down the window and grandly declare “I am Lady Waller. I do not reverse!”, and then sit there until the other road user relented and made way. That’s brilliant, I’m going to try that. 3 days until the Welsh 20 mph limit comes into force. That’ll be fun because there will still be some declaring “It’s only the limit, not a target!”

I am disappointed that Bob has not yet commented on this thread. The introductory line is just crying out for one of his pithier contributions! I don't know what's happened there? How did I miss and open goal like that? Have I become the forum's answer to Romelu Lukaku? The only excuse I can offer up is that I've just started a new job so have been distracted. That said, driving home the other day there were big posters by the side of the road advertising The Ladyboys of Bangkok at the City Hall and I had a niggle that I had missed something important.. I'll try and do better. I'll also try and find the log in details for my YouTube account.

It’s quiet but not silent - there was an audible “wheeeee” when you accelerated uphill. Totally understandable, I’ve been known to make that noise going downhill.

I had an email this morning from BMW, low rate finance of 6.9% on the new X5. Better than 10%+, but still too high. I've been contacted by BMW telling me I'm in a really good place with the finance on the X3 and they can do me a deal. It'll have to an absolutely tremendous deal as the price of my car has gone up over 20% since 2021 - and that's for the plastic seats - if you want leather like mine (std in 2021) it's another £1300. Add in the interest rate rises and I can't see me changing any time soon. Plus, you can't even get Glacier Silver anymore.

Got a puncture in Dudley last week, pumped the tyre back up and proceeded on to Sheffield. It started losing air faster so I used the can of gunk you get from BMW to try and seal it. That didn't work as by now the gunk and air were pissing out of the tyre. The car phoned BMW rescue and they came out and plugged it so I could get home on Thursday. It needed new tyres anyway so on Sat morning ATS came out and fitted 4 new Bridgestones (245/50 R19s) on the drive for £511 all in, courtesy of Blackcircles - which I didn't think was too bad.

Nice little Focker that. My sister and brother-in-law were mugged outside their villa in Mallorca on the first night of their holiday last week. Despite my sister fighting back (not sure what my BIL was doing) they got his brand new Rolex, which he'd waited a year for, and was a present for his 50th birthday. It appears they were followed in a car from the restaurant where they'd been eating and the two North African thieves got away in an accompanying car. Cue three days in the police station looking at mugshots as there has been a huge number of Rolex thefts on the island - the police think they are being shipped to willing buyers in Russia who can't get them through the normal channels these days. The serial number has been logged and insurance claim submitted but BIL has said he won't be replacing it as there's no point - you can't wear them in London, now you can't wear them on holiday, and at home he's working and doesn't wear a watch anyway.

When I can get out I don't let the weather stop me. I've been on the beach in all weathers, snow, driving rain and gale. Once it was so windy the screen protector on my camera blew off. Mrs WW is a more delicate child and until recently wouldn't go out in anything less than perfect conditions but recently I've tempted her out with the thought of a picnic in the car and that's what we did today. Picnic in the car in the rain. The food was home made bread sandwich with Quorn roast beef, baby leaf salad and in my case Branston pickle. She had Sriracha source. The afters was fruit and tea Bit harsh that. Could you not let her travel in the front seat?

They suffer from their popularity with people who can't afford to keep them properly maintained so you're right to go on condition and be picky. You might have rightly scoffed at the one with no service history after 50k being sold for top money but I bet they'll find some mug willing to pay it. Any number of Buy to Let landlords will be queuing up for it.

Good pub quiz question - One of these is the valid CE mark...the other is cheap Chinese tat. Which is why we place little value on the CE mark.

It's always reminded me of some form of weird Pacman with the Community (or should that be Committee? of bureaucratic legislation) about to devour Europe It’s the China Export mark and tells you only that the product was manufactured in China and is not a mark of conformity to any European standard.

CE marking and the Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer are pretty much worthless, which is why it’s not accepted in the US and Canada. Manufacturers lie about their product conforming, don’t have the relevant technical files for review, and so many products come into the EU marked CE that clearly aren’t that everyone views it with great scepticism. A proper, independent UKSA would probably by a good thing.

Behind a car with a “Baby on board” sticker on the boot, just above the number plate, waiting in a long line of traffic on a hill. Lights went green, everyone moved except for Bob driver. His Golf rolled back then stopped as he hit the brakes. Then he rolled back a bit more and stopped. I’m thinking he has one more attempt before he rolls into me… Third time lucky, having waved his apologies at me, he gets it right, moves off slowly, hazards on to thank me, and then floors it…. ….Through the lights that were so red at this stage, the traffic was coming from the other sides of the crossroads, swings left and is gone. To be fair he was probably trying to send an important WhatsApp message at the time.

At some stage all cars will have to be self drive capable and linked to the road train syste,. There will be no acceleration and no ability to do anything other than sit there waiting for the tinkle of glass. Or crumple of a cyclist/pedestrian bouncing across the bonnet. Normal commute for me…
