I’ve always liked the 8 series Me too, the more cylinders the better but I'll never have the time nor money to own one or be able to enjoy it like it was meant to be driven

Always liked them but there are some real horror stories regarding problems and costs. Last time I looked prices were all over the place as well.

Its a lovely looking thing but on a cost vs rward basis it just doesn't stack up for me, very much like all the maseratis I've coveted in my time from the BiTurbo to the Quattroporte.

It’s well-documented that I love these and have flirted with buying one more than once.
That particular one has been on sale for a while.

know the 8 series very well. The 840 was a nicer drive than the v12,the v12 had horrible vague steering which the v8 didnt seem to suffer from,it was the same with the 750 and 740 at the time, the 8 cylinder car was much nicer to drive.

A friend of mine ran one for several years. He did all the maintenance himself and said that if you went and sourced 8 series parts, one's trousers were normally removed. But if you went in and asked for 1970's 7 series parts (as an 8 is pretty much 90% 7 series parts below the surface), they were way, way cheaper.
When you compare these old 8 series to the new one, you have to wonder why so much car design has gone wrong over the years....
