Last week I was in Bruntingthorpe driving the new Duster.
It looks like a Duster on the outside but put it next to a current Duster, there are still cues but the styling is actually quite different, noticeably the more steeply raked windscreen being the biggest change.
The interior is the biggest leap, it always felt a bit cheap (I suppose it would do), but the new interior brings it on in leaps and bounds, everything has been changed, the sat Nav is now higher up in the dash and angled towards the driver, there are "piano key" type buttons which are far more classy and if you have climate control the rotary switches are so smooth and weighted extremely well with no audible click when turned but a nice smooth indent which can be felt when turned.
The doors all now shut with a very reassuring and quality sounding "clunk".
The seats are supremely comfortable and the cabin is far quieter when on the move, there is also a proper pump action height adjuster on the drivers seat now as opposed to that stupid lever which sprung the seat up in one go and you had to use your own body weight to get the correct height, it is bloody awkward and very crude.
On the road there is far less roll and everything is much tighter plus there is now electric power sterring which is much lighter but in a good way and it rides very well.
The car is still very capable off road and now has hill descent control on the 4x4plus on the top of the range there are 4 way cameras so you can place the car better and the 4x4 also has angle sensors too with a nifty display situated within the media screen.
The current Duster is still a very good car but you didn't realise how old it actually felt until driving and seeing the new one, it is leaps and bounds ahead, it is in a completely different league, it is still priced ridiculously well and should do phenomenaly well, it deserves too.
The only downside is the only petrol available until Q1 2019, is the 1.6 SCE 115, it is gutless and needs to be worked, but probably fine for most, there is a TCe 130 coming.
