New sales guy started in work. He’s got a masters in aeronautics which he’s done because he has an interest in it, but wants to be in sales and we took him on as a sales guy. He’s had the same battered old Mazda 3 for over 10 years and it didn’t have a single straight indebted panel on it. He arrived in work last Monday in his new car, a 10 year old 4 door M3. Clean car, non standard wheels but manual transmission. I haven’t driven it yet and was unsure as to the message the car would send our customers, (ok I’m a bit jealous, that’s probably why) but the car is in good condition and he got it for a decent price.
Has anyone had a more dramatic upgrade than a grandad* to an M3?
*grandad- so called because a former colleague said it was his Ma’s Da...

Didn’t Nick go from a Nova to an M3 before his GT3.

The thread is titled dramatic upgrades and you start by saying he has a master in aeronautics but instead of regaling us with a tale of some cleverly crafted new wings on his car, you just tell us he bought a new one! How disappointing!
I had a mate when I was younger who went from his shitty G reg Fiesta to a brand new Civic Type R when he got his first proper job. Good finance rates and living at home still helped with that.

Lindsay went from a Daewoo Lanos to a Swift Sport to a Boxster in about 3 years.
I’m pretty sure Nick had a succession of company cars between the Nova and M3.

One of the guys in my group on the Jonathan Palmer day I did (the one who finished top overall) was a quietly spoken 20-something guy from Basingstoke currently driving a Focus 1.6, and about to buy a nearly new 911 turbo. I was unsure if he was an entrepreneurial type (he could have been) or someone had died, and did not want to ask!
