Something peculiar and puzzling is going on at Autocar Towers I am convinced of it
The official Autocar website (if accessing from a desktop or a mobile phone) is full of adverts, some pop-up adverts, some malicious adverts, some adverts that automatically divert you and open a new tab to a gaming, shopping or even pornographic website and often it is difficult to close these down.
Last night I was on the Autocar webiste when multiple adverts appeared, not just the Mercedes one that narrows the webpage content but ads for FourFourTwo magazine, ToolStation, Amazan, E-bay all covering Autocar web content
Clicking on an article to read within a few seconds generates a new tab to open where malicious looking ads appear
Screenshots from my mobile phone I have attached below
However, thinking this is a virus problem on my tech made me run numerous scans and nothing, no viruses detected, no malicious software, adware etc. has infected either my laptop or mobile and all other websites I use don't have these excessive ads, everything looks normal, it is only the Autocar website that looks hacked. I have also accessed the Autocar web page from a different device and still ads appear in excessive numbers, albeit this morning, everything looks kinda back to normal, but this has been happening for weeks and weeks.
But what worries me is that I cannot get through to anyone at Autocar magazine. I have been trying for weeks to contact them, I use the phone number printed in the mag and this just goes through a junior working at WhatCar and EVERY time he tries to put me through to desks within Autocar it is ALWAYS engaged, I leave an answerphone message and no one contacts me back. I go through to the Haymarket switchboard and they seem blase about the situation and when they try and put me through to different desks at Autocar quel surprise but these too are engaged. I have e-mailed them, contacted them on Instagram, left countless messages but nothing.
I have even tried to contact Andrew Frankel via Instagram but he has gone uncharacteristically noticeably quiet recently and won't respond to me (probably busy I accept).
Whist the magazine is still being produced I wonder what is going on at Autocar. No one seems bothered
