Hit this fucker the other day having only spotted it at the last minute in the wet: Result: new offside rear Goodyear needed. kwik-fit quoted £380, Black circles around £250. Finally got it from on-line jobbie Tyreplus for £220 including fitting. It was fitted by the local kwik-fit.....

I reckon the cold weather has added at least another five years to the road repair arrears.

For the first time I bought wheel and tyre insurance for a car. Pretty much because of the condition of the roads At the moment .

I've been umming and ahhing about buying some bigger, nicer wheels for the SAAB, but potholes like this are making me stay with the balloon 16s it already has.

Do you report these potholes to them?

That’s really annoying. I hit a similar sized hole in the rain earlier in the week and was convinced that I’d have a damaged tyre, but it’s OK. Probably because it’s the higher profile winter tyre (still a RFT so has a still sidewalk), don’t think I’d have been so lucky with the summer tyres.

Do you report these potholes to them? if you look you can see the marks where they have already been reported and noted.

That was meant for Simon.
There was one particular massive pothole up here that had been marked in red but over a weekend it got that much larger that the marking disappeared and it took another couple of weeks to get repaired.
This was on a busy A road.

Do you report these potholes to them? if you look you can see the marks where they have already been reported and noted. In which case a claim for the damage should be upheld since they knew about it and didn't do anything to repair it within a reasonable time (within 48hrs of being reported apparently).
When I make a report I make it clear that it could cause damage to a car or even an accident - normally they fix it within a day. I reported one a few months back which was between two lanes where the joint had failed and there was basically a trench between the two lanes. I saw a motorbike cross between lanes at the same point and he had a bit of a moment. I reported it when I got to work telling them what I had seen and it was fixed by the time I got home.
