So last year when my youngest passed her test I bought her an 04 KA, with 67000 miles on it, 3 owners, it took me a while to find a half decent one but I got there; locally too, also had a years MOT, the car cost me £440.00, I figured that if it lasts a year and fails miserably; as they can do, particularly with rust (this one has sill patches), then given it'll be worth £80 come scrap then a years motoring would have cost £30 per month for the car; cheap motoring.
It had its MOT today, it passed with two advisories concerning corrosion on the suspension mounts (a common KA issue), so obviously she is massively over the moon and it will see her right for another year.
Also it is probably still worth what we paid for it.
That is one less thing for me to worry about.

If only my motoring cost so little! Good result though.

The Gorilla passed its MoT yesterday, fairly unsurprisingly. Advisory on the rear tyres getting close to limit which is good as I am swapping all 4 out this Spring at ridiculous cost.
Nice one on the daughter's car, Humph. I'll be buying T1's car next summer as he'll be 17 in May '19 (his brothers aren't fussed so he'll be chauffeur I guess) and that's the sort of price range I'm looking at for a first car.

True bangernomics par excellence there.
Our Shogu is due its MOT in mid April. After new tyres, the decoke, brakes and new battery in the past 12 months, I'm hoping nothing else will show up.

Lucky you. The wife’s 04 Panda failed due to some corrosion around the front suspension that will require welding and a leaking exhaust. The bill is almost a grand and the advisories will almost be as much again when they turn into failures next year so it’s being part ex’d for £200 against a newer 58 reg Panda in hi-viz Orange.

May well be of 0 interest but the Panda would be good for Scrappage and ‘worth’ £2k. New Fiesta 1.1 Zetec for £149 a month or Ecoboost st-line for £179.

That is exactly how small, low powered Italian cars are supposed to be driven!
