Does he have very small drums? The boot of the GT is surprisingly capacious! There are times I regret getting rid of mine; then i remember the bone-jarring ride on anything other than billiard table-smooth roads and the eye-watering cost of spares and servicing!!

He has a full drumkit but reckons it'll fit. The GT is based on the 156 floorpan and has a big tailgate with folding seats.
My V6 had a terrible ride, harsh over bumps but still happy enough to scrape its belly on big compressions. I'd still have another though.

It must be really good money being in a wedding band if you can make a living flying home twice a month. I'll need to look into it. I hope you get on really well with him because it can be a right pain having family impose on you with such regularity. Anyway, surely a FIAT Doblo was the obvious choice?

£200-250 per gig per person apparently. He's also playing at a couple of festivals in the summer including Rewind, he says they'll be worth £500 a day.
Return tickets bought in Czech are approx. £75 per trip and if we get fed up of him he can always go and stay with his mum in Alloa.
We did suggest a small van but he thinks he's a stylish man about town and, clearly, after an X5 a van simply wouldn't do. I understand he likes to cruise home at Warp Factor 10 in the early hours of the morning after his gigs as well.

Well, it arrived at my house on Friday evening. First impressions were that its in pretty good condition, alloys are scuffed a bit and there are a few bits of lacquer that have come off but the interior looks barely worn.
Driving is a rather different matter. The engine pulls very hard, I can understand why my B-I-L thinks its chipped although I don't, and doesn't make any odd noises. However, the suspension is clunky, the dampers feel tired and the brakes are atrocious.
I drove it most of the weekend, putting about 200 miles on it, and at one point tried an emergency stop. Oh Dear!
The pads have plenty of life but the discs are scored and rusty for about 2cm around the edge. The car has lived in Glasgow for the last few years and going by the gearlever (anodised pink lower half, carbon top but with diamond effect glass bits inset) and CD (Kent someone or other, absolutely awful) left in the car I'm guessing it was owned by a chubby Weegie with orange skin and thick black eyebrow slugs who never went fast or braked hard. It's also a bit sticky going into 6th so the signs are there for a town car.
Otherwise I think he did pretty well and after a polish, a bit of suspension and some brakes it'll be a great car.

Still like the GT, and if it's a Q2 then all the better. Best thing I ever did for the 156GTA was fit the Koni FSD shocks - the car barely ever bottomed out again, having previously scraped its belly in circumstances that should not have gort close before.
If the engine is anything like the 147 1.9 TDi (the 150 I think) that I drove then I'm not surprised it feels quick, that was a very urgent feeling car and as quick off the mark as any diesel I've driven, which considering that was well over a dozen years ago is good going.

Seeing this one on my drive reminds me that it's still a very attractive car. This one has had all the Cloverleaf badges removed or taped over (the one on the inside) presumably as a corollary of it being a Glasgow car and a green clover being somewhat annoying to some footballing elements across there!

I came very close to buying one of these when they were first launched but went for my Megane 225 instead.

I've seen a few properly badged Cloverleaf's of various models over the years, so I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Maybe but they had put black tape over the Cloverleaf badge that sits in the bottom of the tray next to the handbrake as well! So it's definitely been done for a reason.

What sort of numpty mistakes a cloverleaf for shamrock?
