Wake me up when they launch the non-diseased version.

Diesel all day long for me in this sort of vehicle. Loads of torque.

This is quite a big seller for Buchloe so as long as it pays for development across the range so be it.

It's based on the X3 so there isn't a V8 option. I wouldn't have it regardless of the engine, horrible looking thing.

I just checked the torque figure for BMW's own M40i version of the X3 (which has a slightly hotter version of the petrol straight six in my car) and it's 343 lb/ft available from 1,350 to 5,200 rpm. That doesn't seem too shabby to me. No, it's not the "tow a 747" torque of some diesels, but I'd suggest it was ample for most scenarios.

I just don't think there is anything Alpina can do to those that's going to seem right. It's a long way off discretion and those grills BMW now slap on everything (what the hell are they thinking?) are so unpleasant that I couldn't imagine how good the car would need to be for me to overlook them.

It seems that stupidly oversized grilles are the latest must have "me-too" feature.

Christ, that kidney grille is massive...looks way out of proportion.
Not for me
