After the non-breakdown of the battery having to be replaced and the engine de-coke last year, it seems that our Shogun decided we needed another large bill.
A terrible vibration started to come through above 40mph. It was not just through the steering, the whole car felt like it was trying to shake itself to pieces.
So, it was booked in (Mitsubishi, Telford again) and on the way over to the garage I had to do an emergency stop when some numpty changed lane in front of me. Thereafter the vibration ceased but the car now pulled scarily to the left all the time and then lurched to the right under braking. And after five minutes the vibration started up again. So at least I knew it was brake related now.
The garage confirmed a brake issue. Both near-side callipers were sticking, the pads had worn unevenly and that had scored the discs. Plus, the rear silencer had partially corroded through and needed to be replaced (would be an MOT fail). Blow me, Mitsubishi brake calliper kits must be expensive. The quote including labour was £1150 for the brakes (four discs, four sets of pads, two callipers) and £300 for the exhaust.
The car was taken in last Wednesday (and loan car picked up) and I arranged to collect it on Friday morning. I duly turned up at 8.30am as arranged to be told the car was not ready. WTF! Why the hell didn’t they ring me on Thursday afternoon to tell me it was not ready, I enquired, and save me the 45 minute drive over to Telford? Well if I could wait 30 minutes it would be ready. As per last time, the sales guys all ignored me studiously. Twenty minutes later a sheepish service admin told me it would not be ready for at least an hour. I said I could not wait. I had things I had to do. What was to be done? They agree to deliver the car back to me that afternoon. Off I harrumphed.
At 4pm the service admin rang to take payment for the work. “That’ll be £1675 then please”. Er, you quoted me £1450. “We got the quote wrong”. Well tough… I’m only prepared to pay the quote, especially with you fucking me around. To give them some credit they gave in without hardly a fight and I paid the £1450.
But really, car not ready, no call to warn me, more sales blanking, wrong quote value. How do these people stay in business??? I for one will not be buying a Mitsubishi off them any time soon. If ever if I can help it.
