Another tiny niche to be successfully filled.
Looks like the car in the photos has a fake left rear exhaust.

..Slightly puzzled by it TBH...presume based on new 2-series, itself based on new 1-series, which I thought was going FWD?
Me too on the puzzlement front. Surely BMW can't justify another RWD platform if the next 1 series is going FWD? Unless they're using a cut and shut 3 series platform - but that would be another platform in all but name? So I wonder if this is actually off the FWD platform 1 series, that will also be able to take AWD. So the higher power cars, including the M2 / M2GC will be AWD. So it will be competition to the RS3 and AMG45 - both AWD.

It says the engine will be mounted longitudinally so probably NOT based on the fwd platform.

0-62 in 4.5 with a manual transmission? In their dreams!

I think the next M3/M4 will be AWD and follow the M5 with the ZF gearbox. For that reason they may leave the M2 as the spiritual successor to the RWD M3.

I thought the 2 series was remaining rear drive.

On a separate platform? Or retaining the current platform?

It’ll be a 3 derived platform like the current 1 is.

Surely a last hurrah before the FWD/4WD platform replacement comes along?

Maybe if the first 200m of runway are covered in servo tape. Even in perfect conditions it'd still get punched in the nads by the RS3 or the Merc in a drag race. The DCT version on the other hand...

And we can do 2.6 to 60 on a manual box, albeit a sequential.
Either way, 0-60 times are bollocks anyway. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've done it.
