Perhaps, but it is hardly an everyday car - what with all the other sacrifices that Porsche will expect you to make to get a 6 cylinder engine -
"The Spyder will also go on a hefty diet, ditching cabin insulation and even a radio and air conditioning. The 718 Boxster’s electric folding soft top will also go, in its place a manually removable ‘tent top’."

With the myriad of money printing options Porsche has at its disposal I was wondering what else they might come up with. A 718 Cayman GT4 Touring pack could perhaps be the most oven fresh, cakiest thing they could make.

That will be one fast soft top. I have a friend with the current Spyder and it is daft quick already. The price premium will certainly be something to ensure its exclusivity.
Nice to see something like this being made though.

I'd take the GT4 over the Boxster but either will be frickin amazing. With the engine out of the GT3 it won't be the bargain of the last car though. I expect to see a price tag closer to 100k before options. Expect to see your local OPC making a fortune from tacking peoples current GT4's at list and sell them for large premiums.

I presume that once the fuss about the Spyder has died down Porsche may release something else like that although I think I read the current 911 is due for replacement later this year so maybe they will be focused on it rather than a niche Cayman.
Do you think anyone will ever actually see one of these Spyders being driven with commitment on the road?

If it is under 100k with that engine it’s a relative bargain .The engine is insanely brilliant .
