I get quite a few BMW dealers on Facebook and one of them in Edinburgh is quite active. One of their often seen adverts is for winter tyres and wheels so with the thought that I might get a 440i or an M4 I e-mailed the contact from my office e-mail asking if he could give me a price for a set of winter wheels and tyres for both cars. Nearly 2 weeks later - silence.
Racing pointed out an M4 (which I had been watching) but which I thought was too expensive. The price was reduced by £6,000 at the end of last week and I sent an enquiry about trade in and finance etc. Result - silence!

The finance doesn't worry me so much now, having looked at Lombard online who can give me rates of about 3.69% apr which beats anything BMW can do on a used car but surely these guys should be all over an enquiry.

Emails rather result in anything. I always ring. And if I want a particular used car I am prepared to run after it no matter how crap the sales people. New cars are a different matter.
Which one?

Which one? I agree and I would normally phone but I don't like discussing these things in an open plan office and I am too busy to take time out. I used the official BMW contact e-mail system which I thought would elicit some kind of response.

That’s poor, but unfortunately I’m not surprised.

The problem with e-mail is that there is so much dross that a dealer receives, a salesman would rather focus on a walk in or telephone enquiry, if they are on the end of a phone or standing there infront of you then there is a far greater chance of a sale than someone who e-mails.
The crap that we receive via e-mail is astounding, you do get the odd gem but very rarely, I do respond to every e-mail enquiry that is passed to me, however I rarely have any kind of response back.
Also you can have a 5 minute conversation on the phone and gather more information than an e-mail trail of 10 back and forth e-mails, no matter what I ask on an e-mail, it is never answered correctly so has to be asked again, this can go on for a day or 2.

I got responses from every dealer I emailed regarding my wife's car (through the contact button on the BMW website).
The contact with the Edinburgh dealer was to the e-mail address they specifically gave for people to enquire about winter wheels and tyres.
I will wait for February and then enquire "properly"
