RIP Keith Chegwin.
Met him at LGW when I was 13, so the height of his powers I guess. My dad didn't have a clue who he was (he was with Maggie Philbin and my dad was interested in who she was...) and they were on my flight, a Laker DC-10 to JFK.

Cheggers, meh. Edmonds - hate with a passion.
Was Cheggers an alcoholic, or am I imagining that?

Was Cheggers an alcoholic, or am I imagining that? He was, for a while. He always annoyed deeply, but still sorry to hear of his passing.

I suspect that means he remained so, but ceased to subscribe!

Only 60, too young an age for anyone.

Did anyone see Naked Jungle? No. I avoided it, thankfully. I met Cheggers once. In fact, I appeared on live TV with him. It was when he did that "Where Are You Keith?" thing on one of the morning TV shows. My brass band aas asked to march up a street in Huddersfield at 7am to "pleasantly" surprise some poor sod.

I obviously know who Keith Chegwin was but I couldn’t actually say why he was famous. I don’t know which show he made his mark and it never really occurred to me to think about it.

Swap Shop. I think it was his unrelenting enthusiasm that made him fairly famous (in a different time from now when you're overrun with people who are famous for apparently nothing!).

You're lucky. It was kids TV on a Saturday morning in the late '70s and early '80s, hosted by Noel Edmonds. It competed with Tiswas on ITV. That launched Chris Tarrant on an unsuspecting world too.

Very briefly met Cheggars and Jono Coleman (I can't believe I remembered him) when they were filming a kinda Treasure Hunt type programme back in the mid 90's. I was working in Stratford Upon Avon at the time and he and Jono came in the Bank where I was working looking for directions to a local attraction which was ultimately where they would find another clue. Very personable guy, had a brief chat, always remember he was polite and laughed and smiled. Nice memory.
Sad loss.
