We went down to Wakefield at the weekend to pick up my wife's new "used" X4 which surprised me a bit when I got up close because I quite like it now and it just reinforced what a wonderful colour Carbon Black is. It is currently filthy so I will wait until it is cleaned before I post any photos. It is a good bit quicker than my wife's old 2 litre petrol A5 and managed 40mpg on the way back north. Mine managed a bit better for the whole journey, which included a good bit of driving around the centre of Leeds (not a pleasant experience) and then up and down 8 storeys of a multi storey car park. The average speed is a straight distance over time calculation including the time stopped at lights and crawling in city centre traffic and about 5 miles at either end of the journey stuck in Glasgow 30/40mph limits, so you can see I wasn't hanging around.

Good stats. Isn’t it adding insult to injury having to drive over 9 hours to pick up an X4?!

Good stats. Isn’t it adding insult to injury having to drive over 9 hours to pick up an X4?! Just a bit! However the wife is happy and now I have been up close to the car I don't think it is quite as bad as I thought it was going to be.

There's a carbon black X4 in the work car park every day and while its nicer than, say, white, it's still not an attractive thing to look at! Still, as long as your wife is happy

Still, as long as your wife is happy If any of you have seen "The Jungle" since it started, Boris' Dad came out with a very true comment along the lines of if you keep the women happy, everything runs much more smoothly. How true!
One of the reasons I took a PCP with a hand it back option was because of the way it looks. If people still don't like them in 3 year's time, we will hand it back!

What APR did they give you on PCP for a used car?

What APR did they give you on PCP for a used car? I got them down to 5.9% apr with some other sweeteners in there too.
There is a Q4 promotion for the sale of ex demo vehicles which is at 5.9% apr as well but the car must be under a year old.

I agree that it’s important to keep your loved one happy, but maybe they could be even happier with a different car? Making them test drive something that wasn’t on their list has worked for me several times (130i / Swift Sport / Boxster). I leant from my own mistake a long time ago, which was letting the first Mrs Martin have a (green on green) A Class to keep her happy. That won’t happen again. I hope!

I leant from my own mistake a long time ago, which was letting the first Mrs Martin have a (green on green) A Class to keep her happy. That won’t happen again. I hope! I did try to persuade her but we looked at many alternatives and she went for the test drive on her own. She was adamant that she wanted a 4x4 of sorts and she didn't want the square backed kind which pretty much reduced the choice to a GLC or an X4 (X6 and GLE coupe are just massive). GLC didn't do itself any favours with the pricing and an X4 with all the toys for £12K to £15K less seemed a much more "attractive" proposition than a basic(ish) GLC.
I really thought she would have gone for the Q5 but she says they are too old now and the new ones are too expensive.
She did think about it.

Did the Evoque convertible get a look in? Funny you should say that. One passed us on the motorway and she made it quite clear that whoever had designed it needed locked up.
