Wow !!! That is stunning. Wide mouth but everything about that is 100 times better than the (to me) rather bland DB11. Compact styling but instantly Aston and the new interior design is a big success, gone is the slab console. That is pure luxury and every bit a lottery winners dream first car www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2018-aston-martin-vantage-unveiled

I like that. The front is not quite there, reminds me a bit of an MX-5.

I'm not overly keen on the front with the huge gaping mouth and I think that from the front 3/4 the rear end lacks visual bulk above the rear lights - it's as if they've forgotten to put a spoiler on it or something like that.
Much nicer than a lot of its competitors. I presume that at 500BHP and £120k there's going to be a cheaper one with, presumably, a V6 turbo?

Good looking overall, but can't stand the tablet style screen and all the black aero crap around the bottom, especially the front.

The front is a bit awkward.

A bit TVR inside.

It looks like 3 different people designed it, all in separate rooms and not speaking to one another. The front section fore of the A pillar doesn't match the rest of the car. The full width rear light is hideous and should be left to 1980s Cadillacs. The front end looks like a current gen MX5 and viewed side on from the A pillar back, it's an F Type.
Still, it looks better than the DB11.

"every bit a lottery winners dream first car" Yes I'd agree with that. As in a triumph of money over taste.
Interior looks actively nasty (and I don't think it's just that particular "Atari" colour/trim configuration). It's just overly busy and ugly. But then it's been a while since I liked any of Ferrari's interiors and this looks like it takes a leaf from their design book. Externally, the basic shape is nice but it's let down by actively juvenile detailing. The front is terrible, the back less so.
Still, on balance, it's better for me if Aston launches a new expensive car that I don't want to buy rather than launching a new expensive car that I start planning kidney sales for.
And I don't really care if it turns out to be the best-driving car on the planet. I couldn't spend that much money on something that looks that naff.
So it's a miss as far as I'm concerned.

I would be interested to see it with a front registration plate. Although they seem entirely optional these days.

I want to love it but I’m really not sure. Maybe a number plate will help the front?
The old / current model still looks great to my eyes, mainly thanks to it not having a load of fussy details.

Glad it's not just me. It all looks a bit like an upmarket Mazda to me and nothing like an Aston. To me, an Aston was always a cut above anything else. Even more exclusive than a Royce or Bentley, but in a more understated and less shouty way. Cool, calm and sophisticated; with no need to try hard to impress. The car at the top of the thread is the antithesis of all this. Edit: I have been eyeing up DB9s, but need to avoid blowing the house move budget...

Maybe part of the deal with Merc is that as well as their engines, interior fittings and technology, Aston have to also adopt their overly fussy exterior styling and almost wilful tackiness in certain parts as well? After all, if you could buy a better looking Merc, you would, over a Merc.
Strikes me that the DB9 and Vantage of that era are the high watermark moments of Aston exterior design. They simply don't know how to update those beautiful, simple shapes, so instead they just draw some naff shit and add loads of poor details on top. What a crying shame.

I wonder if the silver surrounds to the vents and instruments are real metal?
I really love the look of the old one and could see me selling something important in the future to replace the Nissan with one.

Don't really get the historic love in for Aston, the old ones tended to drive like trucks and the newer ones were lovely looking but fairly unreliable/expensive (unless you got lucky)to run and didn't have the performance to make the bills worth the agro.
This might not be perfect as to me they should have just tidied up the DB10 but it ain't half bad and I'd be very tempted if I had the funds. Astons should be sports cars not sideboards on wheels

I think it looks great, a much needed update that makes it look like a modern supercar. They've integrated the Mercedes switchgear inside a lot better than they ever managed to do in the era of the Fords part bin.

I’ve been seriously tempted, but I’m not sure I could now as they get older and more dated. Sometimes I regret not getting one 4 years ago, they were around £35k (so in budget but running costs and reliability were a concern) and it would be worth pretty much the same now. I’d replace the Nissan too......

I cannot believe that people are seriously saying that this new one is an improvement (externally) on this -

Nice colour too, did they do BRG? Yes, and a nice lighter green, too. Both look good with either saddle tan or red interior.

I'd love one but I am afraid it would be a driveway ornament as opposed to viable transport. As to this new Vantage, as I have posted on Twitter in reply to Autocar and others: REVOLTING.

The vantage was in any form a good car,and in v12 form a masterpiece. The larger cars were more eye candy but had a feel good factor beyond a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Cheeky sod! I obviously just don't appreciate how wondrous those Cherman cars are (nobody else makes sportscars do they, at least according to CAR mag?)
