Franki gets a discount for having purchased a car, I do believe. It’s free if you buy any 911 but they quoted me 450 if I wanted a friend to do it as well, and obviously I can only drive the one car.

Franki gets a discount for having purchased a car, I do believe. His session is free. Well, included in the purchase price. Edit: didn’t see page 2..... You get half a day in he model you’ve bought when you buy new, you have to pay for it if you buy used.

Discount for his add-on.
I will add I didn't pay for mine myself and compared to the M-B world prices it's cheap at the price, and the cars are 911s.

Sounds about right - MB world looks from the outside (I've used the location for business events before) to be a total waste of time for those who have spent any time driving decent cars, juts some standing starts and driving around almost a kart track. The Porsche centre track is quite small,so I’m not sure it’s that much different from the mb track, but they do have the kick plate and low Friction stuff to play on at Porsche .

No kick plate at Mercedes but they have a wet braking strip and then done in reverse, a wet slalom, followed by the low friction drift circle, a Mickey Mouse circuit just to check the driver can handle a left followed by a right and then the bigger circuit which I found great fun.

Sounds very similar, the only criticism of the porsche day would be the circuit is small, and you rarely get above 80 or 90 . I

Well I cancelled the collection on March 1st due to the weather. Then rearranged for the 7th but the day before got a call saying the car had ‘a scratch on front bumper’ and needed rectifying ,so another delay but just picked it up. Needs running in ,But I’m truly buzzing .

Excellent! I know it's very early days, but what are your initial impressions so far - especially compared to your previous GTS and GT4? Anything you would possibly consider changing (whether adding or removing) regarding your spec?

Excellent! I know it's very early days, but what are your initial impressions so far - especially compared to your previous GTS and GT4? Anything you would possibly consider changing (whether adding or removing) regarding your spec? I’ve done 180 miles, car needs running in so it’s tricky to say. Engine is the main difference between it and the gt4 and gts.Staying below 4K revs for a while but it’s still quick, noticeably quicker Lower down the range than the gen1 I drove. It doesn’t have a lot of the electrical stuff the gts had, there is no hill hold ,no dial on the wheel to adjust gearbox settings ,just a switch for pdk plus on or off which sharpens up the gear changes. It is firm and noisy ,a huge amount of road noise .So glad I specced non buckets, their relative lack of padding would make some trips uncomfortable on top of any issues I have with my back . Pleased with the spec,I put the carbon fibre trim on purely because the gt4 and gts has the brushed metal,so I needed a change .Very happy I put the extended leather with contrast stitching on . But overall when it comes to spec I think there are only 2 absolute must haves ...front lift and the reversing camera .

Looks great Franki. I think you’ve made some good choices on the spec. I’m sure most motoring journalists would disagree with you regarding the bucket seats but as I assume you don’t live on a racing track I think that whilst they probably look a lot better, they’d quickly become a right pain to live with. The contract red stitching goes really well with the silver paintwork. My personal preference with the GT Porsche’s has always been for a brighter paint scheme but I must admit that yours does look good in silver.

Quite interesting re bucket seats. On ph I was told the car would be worth enormous amounts less than with buckets (absolute nonsense, the price difference is usually the cost of the buckets ) .I also met 2 gen 1 owners who both had buckets in their gen 1 but changed to sports seats for gen 2.And I think if you actually drove the car on the road you would always pick the sports over buckets .The ride is very firm and the buckets transmit far more of that due to their stiffness and relative lack of padding. But yes they do look much better ,but you have to sit in them not look at them. I think the press are wrong about the gearbox as well,as much as I would probably have ordered manual normally ,I am glad this is pdk.The engine was designed for pdk box,the manual is an afterthought and has one less ratio. The ratios with the pdk are perfect and it is instant gearshifts, and although I have yet to venture over 4k revs this car is so quick having 2 hands on the wheel at all times is an enormous advantage. Dan,sell the gt4 ( if prices are still strong ?) if you can order the forthcoming one ,the engine is just on a different planet .The gt4 will be an utter bargain with a detuned version of this .

That looks very nice. Congratulations. It looked almost meaner with the sheet on it, which made the rear meccano look taller than it is!
The colour was the right choice.

If I can obtain an allocation for the forthcoming one from Tewkesbury I will definitely be selling (or more likely PXing) my current one. But unless I can get an allocation, I will be keeping the current one for a long while! Regarding the seats, I do find the buckets difficult to get into and out of, especially because my car usually lives in a single garage which makes entry/exit difficult at the best of times. But I find them pretty comfortable in actual driving use, for at least an hour at a time. I've done a few 2 hour-plus drives which have also been fine. There's no right or wrong, the sports seats are really good seats, even on track in my experience. Glad it's living up to expectations so far, hope to see it sometime this year!
