Got a call from Porsche telling me I have a gt3 allocation. January production so have to place order today or tomorrow.
Dithering between guards red and gt silver. Car is going to be comfort spec ...pdk and 18 way adaptive seats for my back, hip and knees.

I’d have a similar spec, as usibility is important and I’m not bothered about what other people thing. The only issue is the adaptive seats don’t have the memory function when fitted to the GT cars, no idea why. Guards red gets my vote, along with black seats and red stitching. A great combination.

Did not know that about adaptive seats,in which case the standard sports seats may suffice

You’ll miss out on the adjustable side bolsters and extending thigh support, but other than that they’re very similar. The Boxster has sports seat plus which were the std GT3 seats and they’re very good, supportive and comfortable. I’d like them to be memory seats ideally, but it’s not so much of a problem as my seating position is all the way down and back. It’s more of a pain for Lindsay.

porsche code PJ8QNQ26 for it in guards red in my spec,no point linking up the gt silver as the colour on the configurator bears as much resemblance as I do to the Queen. I put both specs with black wheels but think the gt silver suits black wheels better and red suits the grey wheels better.

GT Silver is just a particularly nice shade of silver. And IMHO red on a GT3 is just a bit "Porsche-branded jacket", if you get my drift. Car is lairy enough to look at with all that Meccano at the back, without painting it in "please look at me red" as well.
Not tempted by the Touring pack version?

Yes very tempted by the touring but it’s manual only, and I must get pdk Unfortunately.I wish I could go manual ,but I get far more use out of a pdk and I want to use it as much as I am using the gts (everyday pretty much).

Ah. Didn't realise it couldn't be had as an auto. That seems a very weird decision by Porsche.

That seems a very weird decision by Porsche. yes very odd,a car designed to be used more on the road only available with a less traffic friendly gearbox. Anyway I have to send my spec in and its locked down immediately so cannot change once it goes, and I think GT silver has won ,it's more discrete and I really like it on the gts. No coco interior ...its porsche ,for 100+k you get a choice of black/grey.Im sure you can individualize it for £20k or something.

GT Silver with cocoa seats. Classic combination. Totally agree. Red is so 1980's on a 911!

Isn’t the whole interior brown (inc wheel) on the coco interior? No thanks.

Having in the past battled with the interminable OCD-fest that is the Porsche on-line configurator which seemingly allows you, on lesser Porsches at least, to customise almost any aspect of the interior and exterior in any one of a range of colours and materials, I rather assumed it would be the same for the GT3!

Good things indeed ! Isn't carmine red available ? Yes,and rather nice it is too ,but gt silver is what I sent in and apparently locked down once they enter it ,so no going back.

Well done. I saw your post on PH yesterday and nearly sent you a PM!
I thought you'd probably go PDK and 'chairs' and also wondered whether you'd consider a manual Touring. I'd love a Touring in Sapphire Blue. Between Guards and GT, I'd vote GT Silver too. Ceramics or steels?

The silver looks good, sounds like you will be getting a fantastic motor. Enjoy but post pictures please.

Sounds great - silver and black is always a classic combination (assuming you've not gone for a paedo grey interior) ;-)

If I was going for a Carrera it would be GT Silver with Espresso/ Cognac Interior but for a GT model I like them loud, racing yellow, guards red, Miami blue all good colours for a GT

Car arrives in uk very shortly, which is great but...
Can’t take delivery as I am going on holiday ,back in feb but then the question is do I follow my heart and take immediate delivery or do I wait 3 weeks so it will be an 18 plate (only relevant to me from a resale point of view)
And yes third world problem I know.

Wait 3 weeks. Don't go near the dealership in that period.

Wait 3 weeks. Don't go near the dealership in that period. Since it’s 160 miles away there is little chance of that.

I doubt it'll make a difference to resale in reality.

Will it make much difference, I’d have thought that spec / miles / condition would be the only factors on a GT3?

Have you lot been living abroad? Of course that period between 28th Feb and 1st March is worth several percent when you trade in no matter what car you have.
