Some time ago I mentioned our friends who had bought his and hers Macans. Well, the Diesel S version (owned by the Mrs) came to visit at the weekend as Mrs PG and her were going out for the day. I was left the keys. While I dare not take it for a spin, it would have been rude not to have a poke about. I rather liked the metallic blue paintwork and the seats were exceptionally comfortable. Although a look at the configurator makes me think that whilst this is a £48k base car, the Sports pack, wheels and full leather package etc, makes this a £60k + spec. I do like the Porsche interiors at the moment - they seem to combine the electronic with the "cockpit" style really well. The only thing that made me feel "oh dear" was that the steering wheel had some nasty carbon fibre rim detail and some equally nasty plastiminium trim. Surely that ought to be proper metal on a such a critical contact point for that price? THe day ended quite bizarrely. Mrs PG's friend had to go to a funeral the next day and the car was pretty filthy. She'd missed the car wash, so Mrs PG volunteered me to wash the Macan. Which I duly did. No "after" photos. But I do believe that you don't really know a car until you have washed it. And so my view is that overall it has a pleasing and simple shape - no fussy detailing and no nasty crevices to get you. new upload photos

The interior does not look all that bad and while it is not for me, I hope those who can afford them enjoy the experience. They do after all, allow the company to produce the Boxster and 911 with rather more development than might be the case. I do like the colour on that one.

I like them a lot but couldn't spend 60k on one. That steering wheel would probably be a £1000 extra on its own.

I had a nose around a new Turbo version a few months ago at my sister in-laws. It had been given to the wife of the owner that day as a birthday present. I do like them but not enough to really want one.

I'm not a huge fan but they're 100 times more desirable than the Cayenne!

I like them a lot but couldn't spend 60k on one. Agreed. But then a Jag F-Pace 3.0S petrol (which I'd have instead) and 3.0S diesel (for comparison purposes only) start at £53k, so maybe I'm just, as usual, out of touch with what people are willing to spend.

If people are happy to spend £40k on a Golf or £50k on an A3, maybe it’s not too bad?! The list prices are very similar, but the Macan costs quite a bit less thanks to lower depreciation, based on PCP figures anyway. There is a big difference in build/quality/materials, the Macan feels like it’s worth a lot more (imo). I was really disappointed with the F Pace. I don’t like the carbon wheel or the wheels on that Macan, but do like the rest.

Not a fan of these but agree the interior architecture is superb, to the extent that in 911s one generation back looks hopeless by comparison, and I quite liked that.
