The 320 is going in for its MOT this week and I thought a wash was in order. Having been busy this weekend and effectively run out of time by 3pm on Sunday I decided to go to a local hand car wash.
They've done a reasonable job (the car was VERY dirty!) but what struck me was the relative cleanliness of some of the other cars I saw waiting in the queue. One in particular - a 2010 Astra Coupe - looked spotless.

I don't use them. I don't trust them to use a reasonable detergent, they don't seem to change the water in the buckets often and I think I'd end up with a very scratched car. I remember seeing a red Ferrari 456 go into one and thought, "what the hell are you thinking?".

I’ve not used them since the 520d left, for the same reasons as Michael plus I’ve never used one that gets the wheels 100% clean. Both cars are scratch/swirl free.

You should see the job that my local team of car washers did on mum's V70 a few weeks back when I had it for its service and MoT.... there was green stuff growing from the roof drainage channels, round the roof rail mounts and around some of the window seals. I lost count of how many times they pressure washed some parts of the car before applying the soapy shampoo solution, then rinsing it off, and the wheels were transformed too.
Mum's first comment when I took the car back to her was, like last year when I did similar (and dad was still alive then) "It looks like new again"

I don't really like using the roadside car washes but have done in the past. I'm also slightly bothered about possibly funding some kind of people trafficking or immigration scam.

I wouldn't normally use them but I didn't want the car to go for its MOT looking filthy and I just didn't have the time. When Mrs Tim finally noticed it was clean she kindly reminded me of her Christmas present to me last year - a pressure washer

Haven’t used one for ages. I’ve heard some horror stories about the wrong chemicals, no insurance and violence etc.
