One of my mates had an issue with his Honda Civic (he piled it into the back of an old duffer who went, then stopped, at a roundabout - my mate's 5th career write-off and the first that was his fault!).
As he needed a car at short notice he picked up the 2006 Accord from another mate whose dad had decided to give up driving.
The car has 23k and a full service history from the Honda dealership in Dundee.
I had a drive over a mixture of conditions - town, main road, back road - and I have to say I was mighty impressed.
I expected the 2.0 petrol to struggle with that size of car and at low revs it was a bit sluggish but it picked up surprisingly quickly and, of course, being a petrol you have a lot of revs to use.
The engine was particularly sweet with a nice growl higher up the rev range but nothing too intrusive!
One particular highlight was the steering. It has a decent amount of weight, plenty of feel and on something like a fast sweeper it kept its line perfectly. Contrast that to my 320 which is at its worst on a fast sweeper where you feel as if the wheels are in mid-air, not connected to anything and you have to almost determinedly hold the wheel in place due to the lack of steering weight.
Obviously the interior was somewhat old fashioned and covered in fairly low rent plastic but it had a decently cohesive design and the centre console sweep reminded me (slightly) of the Aston Vantage - if you squint hard enough!
Overall I think he's got a bargain and it makes me wonder why I sank £15k into a 3 series estate that doesn't particularly outshine it in the economy stakes let alone the driving.
At least the 3 has heated seats!!
