Blimey. I don’t have the patience. Nor do I, but it’s a very good effort. Agreed, I wasn’t knocking it. I tend to reset my trip at fuel stops so I can see when I need to fill up rather than relying totally on the gauge.

Don't know about Dan but, if you recall, the Legacy has two trips so I can do this (when it's due!) and still monitor my daily (work) mileage.

Makes my "effort" from when I got back from Denmark last week look pathetic...

I think mine's only got one trip meter, and like Mark, I normally reset it at fuel stops. Anyway - I've now reset it so that I can get 99999 with 999.9... Chris - yours spells boob, which trumps mine in every way!

Well on Wednesday night, the Cayman reached its milestones of "all the 9s" and then "100 up". Here's to the next 100!

That is a great milestone and testament to the build quality that it can reach those heights when its life is likely to have had many more revs than most cars spent in the 5K to 7K sector.

Excellent work there Dan; ALL the nines tripping over to 100000/1000 was my goal too, but you may recall I missed it by 0.4 mile!

Excellent John dan, just 14 miles range short of perfection!
Definitely still a keeper then?

Definitely still a keeper then? Maybe, maybe not. I still really like it to drive, but at some point I may end up either going back to two cars (M3 and GT4) or alternatively, trading it against a suitable 4WD hot hatch - particularly if there is either a next-generation Audi S1 with a manual gearbox, or a Polo R with the same. That decision is perhaps a year away, so it stays for 2018 unless the engine goes pop.

Maybe he was a second from the end of t2 and then a second into t4?!
Well done, Dan. How many miles a year do you do in each?

Were you pushing it Stunters?!?! The trip computer is a bit deceptive in the sense that when it clicked over to 1000 miles, it then lost the tenths of miles. So it shows 100.0 when really it was 1000.something. The car actually covered about half a mile between when the two photos were taken, including a couple of reverse-and-turns so that I remained in the same quiet road. I was thinking I would have to make do with a photo of 100,000 and 0.0 on the odometer, so the fact that it stayed on 100.0 was a small bonus!

This year I have been doing quite a few miles, as I'm commuting from Cheltenham to Redditch in my contract job. Probably about 9k per annum each for the M3 and Cayman at the moment, and about 3k in the GT4. Over the cars' lives, the Cayman has averaged about 8.5k per annum (it will be 12 in March) and I did 20k in it during a 12 month period in 2008-09. The M3 has averaged about 7.5k per annum and will be 9 in April. The most I've done in a 12 month period in the M3 is about 11k.

8866 at 8866... thanks to a big accident and sitting stationary in a queue on the M3 for about 40 minutes this morning on my way to work, I was able to grab a shot on the phone of:

Sat and planned this out, worked out when to reset the trip - and missed it. (Two women in the car at the time proved too much distraction with all the yakking!) So, then I thought I'll get the odo with the temp gauge instead, which was reading 9.0 degrees when I thought of it. Parked up, and .. .. .. .. .. .. THIS!! Oh well. Next up will be 55555 - watch this space!

Boom. Only roughly 18 months to go until the big 200.
45000 miles in 2.5 years, still on the original clutch....

I don't mind doing clutches, it's the DMF that goes with it that's the issue.

Excellent steed mileage, Blarno. Crack on through to the 200! I reached 77,777 in the M3 last week but was on my morning commute and didn't take a photo.

Reached 10K miles in my ownership today, but couldn't get a shot of the 49845 it was; had to drive another 4 miles before I could get a pic. Nothing special, so decided not to post it here!

That made me look up the MOT history of the 2nd E46 estate I had, we got it at 210k miles and it was still on its original clutch and turbo. Suspiciously the mileage at the last MOT was 129k.....

^ And following on from the above, twice 14000 is..... (elder daughter is with us for a few days over Easter and when I went out to her car, formerly mum's, last evening) This means that daughter has covered more miles in the V70 in the past 2 months than it covered in the preceding 2 years !

Wow! Just over a year to do just under 10K miles! COVID-19 has a lot to answer for!!
I don't seem to clean those clocks very often, do I?
