The shape owes a lot to the Peugeot 205.

Best looking Honda for a while.
Agree re the rear - a definite homage to the 205.

Looks like something you should see a lego man in.
However I like it.

very desirable as a city car. Like that a lot

A refreshingly clean and simple design.

I think there's a hint of Mk1 Golf to the front and, slightly ridiculous wheels aside, I rather like the compact chunkiness of that.

Why do they bother with stuff like this when we all know the actual thing will just be a Spazz with a socket on the side...

Very much an homage to the first generation Civic IMO.

MIA when production version emerges: huge wheels, rear view cameras, suicide doors, swish exterior lighting, fancy dashboard, interior decking, illuminated badging, dot matrix display, thin A and B pillars, IMAX dashboard screen, DFS sofa etc etc...

Front view = Mini 1275GT to me.

Same here, more so than Golf or 205 anyway...

I'm seeing Mini Clubman with cleaned up lines (as in the 1969 one, not the 'new Mini' versions), with a hint of the first Civic about the radiator grille.

Something with no character whatsoever. A sad state of design.

Odd, because I thought that was precisely what it did have compared to so many modern designs.
But then these things are always dependent on the eye of the beholder.

It seems to be sending out very mixed messages after reading the Autocar first drive of the production prototype. 125 mile range (not stated if that is NDEC, WLTP, or "real"), so a city car only. And a city car with less range than other city BEVs. Yet it handles well and is fun to drive. The final car has lost some of the concept's beauty. Oh and it's going to be £30k - more than the competition.
Honda want us to think of it as the car iphone. i.e people will pay over the odds as it is cool.
We shall have to wait and see.

Kryten seems to like it.
He did another video about some Tesla battery pack thingy installed in his garage that he can charge up using solar power during the day and then use it to charge up his car overnight. As long as the sun's out he's essentially getting free juice for his motor.

As long as the sun's out he's essentially getting free juice for his motor. Isn't that quite common with older battery packs from cars, they're no good for the kind of demand the car makes on them but have a 2nd life as a 'battery wall' to store home-generated power.

If someone could find a way of making a transparent solar panel, so that all a car's glazed areas could be solar cells that charged the batteries (whilst driving as well as when parked), they'd make a killing

Why don't electric cars have a PvC roof? Makes perfect sense to me.

That 2011 Leaf on Top Gear the other week only had a range of 30miles. What use is that? I can’t imagine a new battery is cheap either.

UK drive here. www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/2020-honda-e---uk-review/42796I don't understand such a limited range in a £30k car. Yes, it's true that our 500 rarely travels more than 20-30 miles in a day, but it cost £11k new. Plus I ought to like that dashboard, but it just looks curiously dated to me. Like it escaped from a Rover SD1. Take away the modern steering wheel and adjust the graphics, and it's very 1970s.

It looks a bit moonbase alpha etc.

It's an odd looking car, at least in that colour scheme. In particular the views from the front and rear 3/4 make it appear as if it's a small SUV that's been dumped onto a much lower platform with small wheels, it looks as though it needs an extra inch on the wheel diameter and a ride height increase of 3 or 4 inches. IS it just because the glass is so much deeper than we've become used to?

It looks a bit moonbase alpha etc. Well that's sold it to me then! I think it looks great, modern but with a touch of retro too, it has a real "want" factor to it. If it feels quality when you get in then I think it'll sell well and price won't be an issue - particularly in London. The range is a potential issue but I can see new battery tech extending that much further in the near future.
