Claimed weight 1790kg. Actual weight 2000kg?

The wheels are hideous. Give me the five spokes on the later pictures, and only then with a gun to my head. Audi used to be good at subtle.

Looks great . I'd have to have the Quattro badge at the front though

I like it as well. The engine sounds like it could be a bit dull though. I can't remember the exact words but Evo said the M4 sounded a lot better and that doesn't have the best reputation. Can you have it without the Quattro badge on the front?

Did you see the performance figures in evo?

I did, straight line performance definitely isn't an issue at all!

that's very possibly every car for every occasion you could ever possibly need. Looks, power, luxury and space. Actually, no thinking about it, I would still rather have a Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo but that is jolly close to the perfect car
(awful wheels I agree)

Not subtle in the looks department, nor in the performance department! If the looks could be toned down by 20%, in a deep grey metallic, that would be ideal. Please please tell me it doesn't do stupid farty pops on gear changes?

Not unless they've programmed them in. None of the big RS models have a DCT these days and the changes on those are the cause of the parps.

Knowing Audi, they probably have. I had the misfortune of hearing an S3 tearing up the Winchester one way system (in a 20 limit ) at the weekend and the gearchanges just sounded utterly ridiculous, even one that was at low revs on a part throttle. This kind of nonsense and pops and bangs and so on is not character. It is a defect of character.... On which note, well done Simon for your letter in Evo on the subject!!! Re: the RS4, this and the RS5 look pretty decent, albeit as people say toning it down by about 20% would be better. If the press claims about it make the same sort of "GT" claims as with the RS5, it will be much more desirable to me than something with permanently skateboard-like "suspension"... Not sure I ever want diamond cut wheels - refurbing them is expensive and kerbing them would be highly annoying, yet inevitable....

Thank you! No prize, though. But then disagreeing with them is probably one way of ensuring that doesn't happen.

I can't help but think that all these farty upshift cars are going to require exhaust replacements sooner than normal, what with all the extra unburnt fuel going into them to create the 'sporty' pop noises.

I see the Germans still love a paedo grey interior.....
Agree that the looks need toning down, but now that everything is an M Sport / S line / AMG line / R Sport etc etc, differentiating your supposed halo spec becomes more difficult. As the sheeple can't tell the difference otherwise and we live in a look at me world now.
Oh for the return of subtlety and less is more.

The thing about that A5 is that the body of the car (with the exception of the bulge in the bonnet) is a pleasing and well executed shape. But the front (grille, silver splitter), the wheels and the detailing are all just hideous.

It’s quite a positive review overall and I bet it would suit most of us quite nicely.

A back to back test with the B7 would be an interesting read.

Saw a new RS3 at the weekend. Or rather heard - because once again, folks, they have ruined what looks like a very promising car with a ridiculous collection of pops and bangs even at normal speeds (it was changing down for a roundabout in traffic).
A shame - personally I very much like the look of the RS3/4/5 and the newfound ability for day to day use sounds great....

No diea whether they’re fake or not, but if they aren’t then I’d guess they are there to aid airflow around the wheels / arches.
It’s a bit fussy, but I do like it overall.

The fact they're repeated to the side of the rear lights suggests they might be there for styling purposes!
