It seems like only yesterday I was sat here filling out forms to see how thoroughly I'd be shafted by the insurance industry but a letter from Aviva this morning reminds me that it's that time of year again. So, another year of incident free motoring, another year of maturity and experience on a car that's lost thousand of pounds in value and my renewal fee has gone up by £32.

Well, it's been on the news to that effect, so I guess it wasn't a surprise.

It wasn't. Doesn't stop it being annoying.

Is it because insurance companies are piss-taking bastards?

There was a news story yesterday that Admiral's profits have been hit by the level of personal injury claims. Expect more increases shortly.....

The insurance industry have admitted they are "dysfunctional". Therefore I don't expect any changes whatsoever.

I had my renewal through at the end of July. Same as above - same car, more experience, still no points/accidents/convictions, no change of address or career - my premium went up by £170. They were very sharply instructed to fornicate themselves (Tesco) - this despite the Meerkat site showing their best quote as £100 less than they wanted to renew and them telling me they won't match other companies' quotes.
I did the usual and went for the absolute billy bones cheapest I could find on the Meerkats site and ended up with a company called Go Skippy. As long as I'm insured, I couldn't care less who it's with, bunch of thieves and villains the lot of them.
I have a mental block to paying more than £400 to insure anything. I'm 37 and live in an A+ postcode and have a spotless driving record, driving a 10 year old diesel estate. They should be paying me.

I've just had my annual joust with my insurers. We have a multicar policy with a well-known insurer and I managed to get about £150 knocked off our quoted renewal policy (which was £25 higher than last year's premium).
Happy enough with that. £650 to insure both the BMW and the Fiat in central London doesn't seem outrageous.

Mrs R's insurance renewal has just sneaked up on us. It's about 1.50 a month more this year so We've gone with that as it saves the sheer pain of shopping around.

Just done mine and still going through the agreed value thing, Adrian Flox are not very good with this so far.

Adrian Flux are shit with agreed value. I had the TVR valued at about £20k and after taking my money, they turned around and said they would only agree £18k. I had to fight, but got my agreed value fee back and put it on a market value.
I am with Footman James this year and the agreed value at £25k was accepted without issue.

I just got a quote from Footman james and found the difference a bit more than I expected. £112 from AF and £265 from FJ. Ouch, more than a slight slip twixt cup and lip type.
